I couldn't care less about Popcorn's winning streak. Steelers are long overdue for a top 10 draft pick. It should have happened this year. It's the only way to avoid the QB purgatory we experienced from 1983-2003.

I don't see the Steelers striking gold like Patriots did with Brady or Seahawks with Wilson. Gotta draft those blue chip QBs early in the first round.

Now now, I never said I don’t like pocket QB’s. My position is the more you give a defense to worry about the better it is for the offense, so my preference is dual QB’s. In todays league.

In years past before all the rule changes to favor offenses, I wouldn’t want a running QB.

he will have to put in his time though. even with the rule change not all qb's are protected the same by the rules as we know.

i do agree. i don't want him running that much if he can move the ball passing. run if he has to. pass because he's effective at doing it. interceptions are costly enough, i don't want to add fumbles because our defense can't keep up. willis to me just doen't have that passing proficiency that i would like for this team. i don't want them to build around him having to run to make our offense work. decision making has a high priority for me and will take us farther i believe. sure i want one that is a good athlete but i want brains too, unlike me and my math skills. curse you public school edumacation.

The rules still are in favor of a pocket Qb. Ask Lamar. The only time We've been flagged for Hits on Him ...are When he was in the pocket. Hell the only game we lost 2 Him was mainly because of a flag from a hit while He was in the pocket.

That's true, if you have a 400 yarder in your bag why would you not use it?

Yeah, like a Ryan Leaf! Or a Patrick Ramsey, Kyle Boller, Vince Young, Jake Locker, Brandon Weeder, Johnny Manziel, Paxton Lynch......
1st round doesn't always work either.

But it does more often than not. Chances are better if Steelers draft a QB in the top 10 of the first round.

get ready for the dark ages for a few years. We have been asleep for 3-4 years, made no serious plan to transition from Ben and now we will suck for a while.

First round QBs do not work out more often than not. I went through the exercise of loot at 1st round QBs for the past decade, and depending on how you define “working out,” between 1/4 and 1/3 actually work for the team that drafts them. I excluded the last 2 drafts because it’s premature to judge.

You mean the dark ages haven't started yet? If the mantra is the Steelers compete for the Super Bowl every year, we have been in the dark ages for a while.

Just saying the chances are better drafting a franchise QB early in the first round as opposed to drafting one in rounds 3, 4 or 5.

it's not like the Steelers haven't taken mid to late round fliers on QBs since drafting Ben.. we've done it multiple times. they've all sucked. the Brady's and Wilson's are literally needle in a haystack type finds. you either scout well and draft one early or you buy a scratch off lottery ticket later in the draft. there really is very little in-between.

Jared Goff? Carson Wentz? Jameis Winston? Marcus Mariota? Mitch Trubisky? These recent guys I believe all went 1 or 2 overall. None turned into long-term franchise QBs for the teams that drafted them

Is Goff a free agent? Trubisky would be the best option of any of those. Wentz is a Commander.

Everybody knows this of course. But, you always get someone to say "Actually, blah blah blah, Brady!" Of course it's bs.

I could throw a stat out like 12 of the last 23 SB have been won by non-first rd QB. So 52% of the time they win. And 7 of those SB's(58%) were won by QB's drafted in at least the 6th rd! A 1st rd QB doesn't mean s***! Have I made a compelling argument?

So, obviously things aren't as they seem. 24 of the last 23 SB's have featured a 1st rd QB. That includes Brady's 10 f***ing SB's. Brady has skewed the stats beyond belief.

But not all picks are worth the same.
A 5-pick is equivalent in value to two 20-picks.
A 10-pick is worth about three early 2nd round picks.

An earlier pick will have a better chance of hitting a jackpot.
But how much better? Is it worth the draft resources, which could be used elsewhere? Would taking more chances at QB give better odds of a hit than a single shot with an early pick?

Thats how I understood you to mean that and agree. I absolutely do I not want the Steelers to try and find Bens replacement with mid level picks.
