I wish that BA / Ben would run some plays that are specifically designed to target the RB or TE as the FIRST read. This is what so many winning teams do and it is proven to work.

Remember the big pass play to Mendy that got a huge chunk up the right side? I was screaming for Ben to get it to Mendy as soon as that play developed. It was obvious that there was absolutely zero coverage for the RB on that play and the entire side of the field was wide open, yet Ben waited and waited prior to getting to Mendy. Though the play was a real nice gain, I think it would have been much bigger and maybe even a TD if Ben goes to Mendy right away on that, instead of as a last resort. A quick strike and the defense would not have even seen it until Mendy would have been 20 yard downfield.

When Ben throws quick hitters they often turn into nice gains, you do not always need to look for a bomb first. Quick hitters are effective and also put the pass rush at bay.

You mean like the game against the Pats where Miller had like 5 or 6 receptions in the 1st half ;) The plays are already there. The scheme and personnel on the opposing D dictates how often you can use them though or how effective they'll be. The Pats let Miller roam all over the field completely unchallenged the whole 1st half whereas the Ravens would have none of that.

Wishful thinking, not with Ba and Ben at the helm.
    We are going down field.

I think he thinks if we pass to the RB and TE we will go down the field

The answer to every question or complaint about the offense always seems to be The Bruce.

I don't know how many times I've seen Mendy standing there wide open and Ben scrambles, then forces some idiotic throw down field instead of throwing to his WIDE OPEN RB. Ben needs to use all his weapons, not just the ones that get him big chunks of yard at a time. Even if Mendy catches it and then gets tackled for a short gain, that's called a positive play for a reason. We have a RB that is great at catching the ball and is phenomenal in the open field, so Ben needs to get him more involved. If we're not going to use him properly, we may as well let him walk at the end of the year. That way we can watch Redman run into the pile over and over and I can hear how great he is because he's big and strong and can move the pile for an extra 2 yards. Sorry, I'd rather the RB that has the ability to make a big play at any time.

The fact is that good teams get their RB's involved, ie the Pats, Saints, Packers, Eagles (most years they are good), Bears, etc.

Well you're close. It's every complaint and usually after a loss. For some on here he's the favorite whipping boy after every loss even if the offense turned the ball over 6 times. I mostly tune it out anymore. As a carry over from the old original MB I don't think there's anything that could be said about BA that we haven't already heard before and I'm guessing he'll be retiring after this year anyway so what's the point. By no means is BA blameless in the equation but to exclude player execution and errors in that equation is just nonsense and that's what some of the folks do. They'll complain about the formations or the play calling in all the various down and distance situations but conveniently leave out the fumbles, interceptions, missed blocks, running in to the wrong gaps, etc. as if none of those things really had an impact on the game. Nope, It's all Bruce's fault :lolol:

It would really be advantageous to actually have the RB be the primary read/target on some plays. You can rest assured other teams do this. Rice, Forte, Foster, McCoy are often the primary target on a pass play and it works. It would work even better for us because defenses often overlook our RBs because we rarely target them.

Heath was able to have the big game against the Pats because their pass rush stinks. Heath wasn't needed to block. Heath's rookie year he was on the verge of becoming a superstar, but then the offensive line fell apart after that.... and now he has to block way to much.

O.K. I will design a few and use the Ravens D to approach.....

The 1st. thing is you have to think about what the Ravens do well and how they try to approach it.....

My take is they like to play man or man/zone with Reed lurking single high deep,,,,,from there they like to send at least 6 or 7 guys one more than you can block.......

So from that my goal is to stop the pressure 1st.....To do this you must have a great screen game meaning screens to all the elgibles and always using both quick and slow screens and using the whole field by throwing outside screens, weakside screens and middle screens.......This is the 1st. step to keep them guessing......

Now from there use the same looks and design plays to your RB'S and the TE after you have slowed the blitz and made them think screen 1st......

One sequence of plays would look like trips right strong side TE with a backside screen to the RB with 1 puller probably Pouncey from my take.....This does a lot it negates the speed rush from the back side it also forces the will LB to stay at home.......Now when we get that you build from that......You can fake the same screen and send Miller on a Drag or Angle route ......He now has space that has been created by the fake and is probably 1 on 1 with at least a step ......The hope is the strong side LB bites or is blitzing as well and now he has huge grass in front of a FS ........

After you hit that play a few times then you change the routes ......Now the RB runs a wheel route which attacks the FS and the TE runs a seam stop 8- 15 yards or so.....1 or 2 quick reads will be there ...Either the FS bites on the TE or he flashes to the wheel route ,,,which I doubt either way the RB and Te have designed plays that build on one another......

Now I could keep on going and explain the PA fake part which would be the quick pitch with similar routes by Miller,,,,,or I could keep going and show you the TE screen to Miller on the strong side and how the RB would now have open Seam routes, curls, and outs off of PA.......

I could go on and on and prove how 1 play is suppose to build into the next.......I wished the MB had a chalk board....LOL.....The point is this is where we fail the most.....Our plays are not designed to attack what the D wants to do the most,,,,,our plays are not built to set up the next play.....Really how does a empty set set up any running play????How does a empty set slow the Rush??It's things like this that make me sick......

OH and just so you understand the progression of the plays I was doing the D will adjust and when they do the 3 WR side will torch their ass.......I would have no problem throwing 3 passes longer than 20 yards as all should be for TD'S if set up correctly and called correctly......

Your talking about BA here, he doesn't do that. Should have fired him 2 years ago.

I am certain they have designed plays to RB's and TE's. This post wouldn't be here if fans knew the offense. Complaining about what fans don't know seems to be a constant.

The coaches provide the QB with multiple options on certain plays. More then one WR runs routes. The guy(QB) that makes the most money decides where to go with the football based on the defense he reads. The ball doesn't always go to the primary read because the defense covered the primary receiver.

Many times, I noticed RB's, WR's, or TE's open in the flat or on shorter routes. Ben appears to look those players way then ignores them in an attempt to make a play down field. That's on Ben and not the coaches.

I disagree. If it happens a few times, it's on Ben. After that, it's on the coaches. If the players aren't doing the things they are supposed to do, I expect the coaches to step in and fix whatever isn't happening correctly. If it happens for 5 consecutive years like it has been, that's absolutely on the coaching.

I will agree though that Ben is part of the problem. I've seen him too many times look off the wide open RB and throw deep into traffic. It's one of the reasons I don't like Ben. I know that's almost not even allowed to say on here, but I don't like him, never really have. He's not an intelligent QB. He's gifted, there's no doubt about that, but I can't stand his decision making.

Out think`em Arians is setting up the ONE QB DRAW HE WILL CALL ALL YEAR... :hmmm:
    Just kidding PWP...
    Actually, I agree with you...
This team could be SOOOOOO much more dangerous with a competent OC...
But, we will continue to scratch and claw our way to superbowl wins, despite him, then have everyone on the board say...
See... Arians won us another superbowl...
Instead of realizing that the talent we have, got it done, even though he was hindering our effort!
I actuallly read an article in the Post Gazette, that praised him for throwing out of a "running set", and running out of a "throwing set"....
Apparently, because he does it so rarely, that it is noteworthy, when he does... :hmmm:
