Munchak, Marrone, Flores and now Rob Ryan. A lot of options to fill open positions. Let’s hope we don’t muck it up

Marrone and Munchak are still my personal go to at the moment. I still want Kris Richard brought in to be the Defensive Coordinator though. Regarding Brian Flores.... not saying the Rooney's would not hire him but due to the circumstances.... likely untouchable at this point.

If anything, after essentially playing against the Owner for a team he had to coach... to have the success that he did... I cannot fathom him going beneath the doldrums of Head Coaching ever again.

I want Richard as well. Lots of great names there though. Fangio is a great defensive coach.

I have a thread in general about Flores not being a good coach. Flores had tremendous power over his staff and personnel in Miami. He didn't have to fight his owner at all. The owner is alleged to have desperately tried to acquire Brady, Watson and Burrow. Flores alleged that he shut down his owner's request for him to "bump in to" Brady at a marina in Florida.

Flores blames the whole world for his own shortcomings. He even maligned John Elway. It's hilarious how dysfunctional a coach Flores is and how everyone kisses his butt because he went 9-8.

Too expensive. We’ll find someone to promote and pay 1/2.

Probably true. If So, I hope it is a worthy appointment, and not someone just promoted as a stooge, or a yes man.
There was a time when the Steelers promoting from within was a good thing, and Has turned out well. So We can only hope it's does so now.

Promoting from within went downhill when Butler replaced LeBeau and has been declining ever since. Actually all coaching hires have been C-'s or worse lately. Mike Tomlin needs to lose some of his control and the new GM needs to have authority over him on coaching changes. What's been going on for the past decade with coaching hires simply isn't working. It'd be nice if the first thing the new GM did was fire Canada but the Steelers just don't make those necessary drastic changes like they did in the past.

Take the eye test people, listen to your gut. Are you seeing
the type of football you want to see from the Steelers? Someone is
coaching this type of football. Players are being asked/taught/coached to play this type of football.Players also need to be accountable. When you go to your job aren't you accountable for producing results? Coaching staff needs to show results.

I still can't believe Tomlin was allowed to get through this offseason without having to bring in an outside OC, DC, or GM.

I guess you can bring on all those "Fire Tomlin" threads, because this team isn't going to get any better if we do nothing.

What qualified GM is going to be available after the Draft? Let me guess; someone that is already on the Steelers staff.

They need a new set of eyes for this offseason and especially the draft.

    Edit to Add:
Doesn't the GM season begin February 23rd and come to a conclusion after the draft when Colbert wants to leave? What impact will the GM that takes over for the Steelers after the draft have on the 2022 season?

I would trust Colbert to handle this draft over some new guy coming in right now.

Vic Fangio would be a good hire and fit right into the Steelers culture.
But they have named Teryl Austin to that role and will back flow at the lower level.
So, this a good spot to look at the college ranks or youth in the NFL coaching ranks to pick a "promising mind" to backfill with.

I know Butler's main job the last couple of years after Tomlin took over the defense was to replace Porter as the LB coach.

Any talk of them bringing in someone to take over the LBs and help push Bush back into the star he looked like he could become his rookie year?
