Byron Leftwich is now the head coach of the Jags, Which means even B.A has more of a coaching tree than Tomlin does...lol

Now I have to think of a new answer for "Well, who would you want as a HC then?!"

Congrats to Leftwich. The Jags put their QB in a good spot to develop.

I like Leftwich. I hope he succeeds. However, I am hesitant.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byron_Leftwich#Tampa_Bay_Buccaneers_2

After the 2020 regular season, Arians stated that he had delegated the offense to Leftwich, and expressed frustration that the coordinator was not interviewed by other NFL teams for a head coaching position.[33][34] At the end of that season, their second with Arians and Leftwich, the Buccaneers won Super Bowl LV.

He started calling the offense at the same time a certain QB joined their team. If I were hiring a coach, I'd want to see some of their work without an elite QB.

It's the same reason that Bieniemy hasn't been hired as a HC. He has an amazing offensive mind in Reid and a QB who could go down as one of the greatest to ever do it.

“I was very, very pissed that Byron didn’t at least get an interview this year,” Arians said. “For the job that he’s done . . . I think I get way too much credit and so does Tom Brady for the job that Byron has done. Hopefully next year people will see that he took Jameis Winston and broke every single record here, scoring and passing, and now Tom has broken both. He’s done a fantastic job, he’s everything supposedly what people are looking for, although this year was kind of a defensive cycle.”

Will be interesting to see how well he can develop Trevor and further improve the offense. Having Eitenne back will surely help but that team needs more Offensive Weapons to contend for certain.

So many sites are stating to draft Evan Neal; a pick which I believe would be a mistake. Aidan Hutchinson though would be a good choice but I would not go all in for the EDGE Player. If I were Jacksonville, I would listen to some calls before making the pick.

Offensive Tackle, EDGE, Defensive Lineman and Wide Receiver are all deep and talented in this class. Best to acquire as much talent as possible unless the offers themselves are not worth entertaining.

I'd have preferred Caldwell for Jags. Good culture guy.

Technically isn't this a branch from Bill Cowher's coaching tree? Cowher worked with Arians in KC. Hired him as a WR coach. Leftwich played for Cowher and then was hired by Arians.

Bienemy will probably have to make a lateral move to prove he can do it without Reid.

    Best of luck to Byron.

It will always be in my memory blank of him being carried by teammates will a torn knee still throwing the ball on a game finishing drive, while he was at Marshall.

Some of the ballsy football playing you will ever see.

Best of luck to him except against us of course!

my bad you’re correct. He came 2008. Tomlin’s second season. But that was still Cowher’s staff and starters on the field. You get the point. Got his coaching experience under Arians

The whole coaching tree thing is completely overrated. You know who else doesn't have much of a coaching tree? Sean Payton. Pretty damn good coach.

Lombardi had only 4 former assistants make it to HC. I'd say he was pretty good.

You know who has a big coaching tree? Norv Turner.

For those really interested, see here. It's a little outdated now. http://graphics.wsj.com/nfl-coaches/

Good Luck I guess, but I just don't see him succeeding with that franchise the way that it is. I hope Lawrence doesn't get any tips from Byron how to throw a football.

Who cares? Belichick is the GOAT and his coaching tree sucks, I think O'Brien is the only one that had a winning record as HC.

One of my favorite non-Pittsburgh related sports moments. I remember that Byron had that wild ass wind up, but he had a cannon for an arm.
