And then he’ll go on to become one of the most well respected head coaches in all of football and win a Super Bowl or two.

    I predicted this yesterday.

    "Retired."

It's still Tomlin's defense is the salient point.

Name another defensive coordinator besides Tomlin who allows 40 points per game but doesn't get fired.

I think everyone knew the next DC would be an "internal hire."

The next OC is the big question but we knew the sacrificial goats had to be scaped.

Do the Steelers ever hire from outside the organization anymore?

It is going to be crazy if they end up bringing in nobody from the outside to fix this team.

    They promote an internal DC
    They probably keep their OC.
Why they are allowing their GM to stay through the draft is crazy. What kind of GM is available after the draft?

I guess all these crazy people calling for Tomlin's head may know nothing is going to change until Tomlin leaves.

Seems probable that Omar Khan becomes GM as a cap guy and Tomlin is the defacto GM.

Tomlin is effectively being promoted as a reward for all his recent success.

Brandon Hunt is probably the next GM. I can't see them not going with a personnel guy.

I don't think Tomlin, barring health issues, is going anywhere until after the 2030 season. That will give him his 24 years, breaking Noll's record for longevity. They're in love with him. That's obvious.

Wade Phillips. Get him. He was not cut out to be a HC but he instantly improved the defense in his last two arrivals as a DC (Broncos, Rams). This team is built just like that 2015 Broncos squad (not quite as talented) and they were able to carry Peyton to a ring.

Me and @AskQuestionsLater have been predicting this. It’s not the typical hire from within move, Austin has been a DC for Detroit and Bengals. Stint with the Bengals was terrible but Detroit actually had a top performing unit his first year. He’s also been up for numerous HC positions.

I kind of recall our defense getting better after he got here as well.

Would still hope they perform a job search before just handing him the job. Shake the tree.

None of these assistant coaching changes matter as long as Tomlin is still the head coach.

How do you get fresh ideas, perspectives or approaches if you just keep hiring within? No wonder the team has been stagnant for a decade despite some HOF caliber players.

Keith Butler was going bye bye as I predicted after the 2020 season given the fact his contract expired this season. Not surprised to be honest. While I do expect the team to move forward with Teryl Austin at this juncture, I would still opt to head outside the organization for at least a Senior Defensive Assistant.

Larry Foote being promoted to such a role could be feasible. He is currently the Linebackers Coach for the Cardinals. Besides, he would have not only more leeway to study under Austin but to develop his own skills in addition to the Linebackers as well.

Jerry Gray is another option as a Senior Defensive Assistant. Given how much of a role he has not only played in the development of Jaire Alexander but also a key coaching component of the legendary "Leigon of Boom", he is another solid fit.

There are others sure but, these two stand out for me more than most.

There also the crazy betting rumors that Tomlin could be traded to Vegas.

I read that he is currently the 4th most likely person to get the head coaching job in Vegas.

Tomlin would probably retire rather than work for Mark Davis.

Tomlin is a good coach and could go somewhere else and they would win. Problem is that the message and culture here needs fixing.
I’ll ***** about some stuff for a couple weeks then get back into positive mode.
