I was looking over the entire afc today and we still have a great shot to make the playoffs even with out ben.

we currently stand at 6-3...lets just say 10 wins will get us in.

the next 3 teams that are following us stand at 4-5...meaning they have to go 6-1 if we win 4 games just to tie us with the same record.

i did not take into account tiebreakers etc...but the chances of us making the playoffs are pretty good and hopefully we will have a healthy ben back by then.

I've been watching the conference all through the season. Prior to the KC game, my attention, of course, was more on the teams above us and whether or not we could overtake them given our/their schedules. Until we see how the future might look with Lefty playing an entire game, I'd say it probably gives some added meaning to games like tonight's Miami-Buffalo game (GO BILLS). If we thought our ONLY shot was a #6 wildcard seeding, then I'd probably be more inclined to root for the Broncos over the Chargers this weekend. But, it's not time to throw in the towel yet and I can't bear to root for Peyton Manning, so (at least for THIS week) still keeping my eyes more focused on the teams we need to overtake....

Flying out from the West Coast this weekend with my bumblebee jersey on! The Steelers are 1-0 this year when I've been at the game at Heinz Field, so how can there be any doubt we will win?

10 wins will be enough for the wild card , we need to win 4 games in the next seven (2baltimore 2 cleveland one cincy san diego and @dallas )
can we win 4 of these games with lefty ore batch ? that's the question

Honestly, I don't see us winning 2-3 more with this team. Ben is the leader and without him you are asking a whole lot from an old D that has played a little better due to Ben's long drives this year. Without him, how are we gonna score? Lefty scares me every time he drops back to pass, which is the Kordell made me feel as a well. Looking at the remaining games we are asking a lot from this team, and injuries are still with us. JH is a shell of himself at this point, and no TP for quite possibly the year? Overcoming adversity is one thing, but overcoming the " injury plague would be biblical!

Woo Hoo! A 5-loss team goes down (thank you, Buffalo). Our playoff chances just increased by 0.2% (or something). All part of the master plan! In a strange twist of irony, the Steelers just sent post-season invoices to season ticket holders....nice timing! Keep the faith!

Stop the doom and gloom. :lolol: Lefty will do fine, and the defense will hold. All Lefty needs to do is complete a few key passes for splash plays and he has the arm to do it.

Hopefully, Mendy will play in 1st Baltimore game and remain healthy. O-Line needs step up and keep that level of effort up. Keeping the Ravens D guessing will be key. Haley & Co. will do this.

The D needs to spook Flacco, take Flacco's main WR away, and limit Ray Rice. LeBeau & Co. will do this.

In the next three games, I hope to see AB and Troy back. I'm not sure how serious Ben's injury is, or how long it will take to heal. From what I have heard on interviews it sounds like he may not be back until the last couple games of the season and playoffs.

The Steelers can take 2 of the next 3 games (The Raven Sammich Stretch). They should also win at least 3 of the last 4 games. That puts them at 11-5, worst case. I think they have a shot at taking all remaining games, though.

C'mon Steeler Nation! Keep the faith!

here are my feelings on that if by the time ben is ready to come back if we are in the plauoff hunt then lefty is doing his job so why risk ben getting knocked out forever. if we are out of it then why risk it at all. this is a game not worth risking your life. theres tough and then there is stupid and ben playing at all again this year would be stupid.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say 9-7 will be good enough for a 6th seed. After you get past the Steelers in the standings, the AFC is just plain awful. Perhaps the game with the most meaning will be the fame against Cincy. Sweeping them will cover a tiebreaker. Throw in a win over San Diego, should they go on a late season surge and 8-8 might get it done.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like the team to go 5-2 at worst. The team must come together to be able to take advantage of a healthy Ben later in the season.

Indianapolis (6-3) play at New England, Buffalo, at Detroit, Tennessee, at Houston, at Kansas City, Houston
    likely will be 9-7

San Diego (4-5) play at Denver, Baltimore, Cincinnati, at Pittsburgh, Carolina, at NY Jets, Oakland
    likely will be 7-9

Cincinnati (4-5) play at Kansas City, Oakland, at San Diego, Dallas, at Philadelphia, at Pittsburgh :herewego:, Baltimore
likely will be 8-8, maybe 9-7

Tennessee (4-6) play at Jacksonville, Houston, at Indianapolis, NY Jets, at Green Bay, Jacksonville
    likely will be (7-9)

    Buffalo (4-6) - no

Miami (4-6) - play NE twice and San Fran - no

Steelers need to take care of their business. Split with Baltimore, crush the Browns, 2 of 3 from Chargers, Cowboys, and Bengals and they will be in the playoffs, maybe even AFC North Champs.

i don't know why you guys worry about Lefty playing more than one game ... Ravens will kill him on Sunday on the first snap while he tries to throw it and then HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEATH will go 50/50 for 500 yards, 5TDs and 0 INTs ;)

I sorta feel the same about the injury. I don't see how you can be ready in a couple of weeks when you have a bone that could puncture your heart. I mean that's pretty hardcore and I would rather not win another game all year than to see Ben go out there and try to play with his LIFE on the line. We forgive Ryan Clark for not playing in Denver and we should do the same for Ben.

That may be true, but with Cincy the last game of the season, that would mean we need to win to get in. In which case our playoff run would be more like '07 and '11 than '08 and '10

If you have the balls to buy one of those ugly ass jerseys, and wear it to the game, I am convinced that mojo alone, will propel us to a win over our hated rivals!!!:herewego::rawk:

Looking at things, at 9-7 the Steelers have a pretty good chance of making the playoffs, particularly if one or two of their wins come against Cincy and/or SD. Basically a Steeler win over either essentially eliminated Cin/SD.

Football Outsiders has the Steelers playoff chances at 88%, which seems reasonable at this stage.

I realize we went to OT versus the Chiefs, but after watching the Cowboys struggle with the Browns, I can honestly say, that game shouldn't be so difficult.
