    Antonio Brown or Ben Roethlisberger?

As stated in a previous thread, I believe we really saw the effect of not having AB in the passing game on Monday night. It is a bit clouded as the offense as a whole was not clicking as it had been in previous weeks and weather conditions were poor.

Ben is a great QB and one of his strengths we will not find in a back up is his ability to extend the play. Hard to measure what the loss of that will mean, but I would argue he seemed to be doing that a bit less this year. That said, Lefty being a capable pocket passer feels like less of an issue than the loss of AB.
He is a play maker and changes what the D has to do to account for all the receivers. I believe he is a very large part of Ben's success.

A lot of talk about the different QBs so I thought I would start a conversation with a different theme here.
I don't think it is possible to find another pair of players who's absence hurts us more that's for sure!

100% we miss ben more.. we have 3 other good reveivers and more if you include heath and others.. so 3, 4, 5 guys to replace AB.. we have none to replace ben and the best replacement for ben (charlie) isnt going to replace him...

I don't think there's any question that you miss Ben more since he's more critical to every single play and the continuity of the game definitely changes with somebody else under center. I get your point though as it was a bit disheartening to see so little separation that our other receivers were getting against the Chiefs. I think Freakonomics would suggest you miss a key QB the most, a key WR next, and a key RB probably 3rd, and I think that holds true for us this week....

Lol is this a joke? Big ben i think brown could be lost forthe season and it not hurt nearly as much as ben being out for a few games

Definitely Ben. We have a pretty deep, decent receiver core right now (when they aren't making stupid mistakes), but we only have one really good QB.

Just playing devils advocate here, lets look at 2 recent scenarios that might discredit Ben clearly being the bigger loss.

Green Bay sticks Flynn in for 2 starts winning both games. He posts good QB stats in both due to a high flying offense with a great WR corp.
2008 Matt Cassel steps in for Brady and looks pretty impressive. Time has proven it was the system with quality WRs and not the QB.

Take the top WR out of either of those scenarios and how would those QBs have done?

BTW, I do think over the course of the season it is the play of Ben that makes the difference. If I had a choice I'd keep him healthy, but...we ain't waking up from this one fellas :)

How does taking out the top receiver AND QB relate to either one or the other being out?

There is a reason franchise QB's make so much more money than #1 wideouts (many even think Wallace is the more talented receiver, but I digress). Quarterbacks handle the ball on every single offensive snap. A receiver relies on a QB to even do his job in the first place.

there is a big difference between Matt Flynn and Lefty. there is a lot of film on Lefty and there was very little on Flynn. i cant remember who the Packers were playing in that game, i want to say the Lions, but they were obviously caught off gaurd by his ability and had a terrible game plan.

the Ravens will know exactly what to do against Lefty. get pressure on him and just get near him. with that long delivery they will beable to hit him while hes throwing. the secondary also knows that once he starts that delivery, hes committed to wherever hes looking. makes it easier to read.

Brown is probably the best wr on the team and i believe he was missed alot on Sunday. his absence effected the passing game, but
Ben can do things that no other qb can do.he makes plays and this year he has taken his game to a different level.

they will miss Ben more this year than they did a couple years back when he missed the 1st 4 games. the biggest reason is, the defense isnt as good. sure they are still ranked like a top defense, but most of us can see they are clearly not the same. they won with their defense for the most part in those 4 games. this year they are winning with their offense more than with the defense.

the defense will have to step up and they will have to hope the oline can give Lefty some time. he will need much better protection that Ben did. Ben could escape the rush, Lefty is a tree.

if Ben is out for 4 weeks which is very likely, they will need to go atleast 2-2. they can go 3-1. Ravens and Chargers at home. Ravens and Browns on the road. if they can beat the Ravens Sunday they will have a very good chance at going 3-1.

anyways to answer the question. Ben is by far a bigger lose.

Ben. We could still go on and win the SB without AB, we're not going anywhere without Ben. I think Lefty is good enough to win some games with but not take us all the way.

Keep in mind that the weather conditions were not favorable for the KC game and also KC's defense was swarming, they played a good game.

lefty is not FLYNN or cassel... hes slow.. throws every ball like hes trying ot throw it thru a brick wall... takes way too big of a wind up to throw a ball 5 or 55 yards.. lefty isnt even the best back up QB on this team

First let me say that AB is my favorite current Steeler, Now, #7
is the single most important Steeler to play here since the dynasty years.
    Enough said.

I think I may recant my statement, AB has been missed just about as much as
Ben will be. AB is a big difference maker on OFFENSE AND SPECIAL TEAMS.
He could carry this team if the Steelers had a QB that had the time and the ability
to get it to him, target him about 10 times a game and watch the magic unfold.
    He is uncoverable.

So AB could carry the team if we had a QB with time and agility... so Ben is the key.

Have we converted a 3rd Down, by passing, since Ben's injury? Clearly, we miss Ben.

    I want them both back!!!

I agree on wanting them both back. Its almost always AB he connects with to convert 3rd down.
