I have no confidence in Rudolph but what is the answer maybe focus on o line if you can run the ball you can throw the ball

At 39 and a hip injury, I would rather roll with Jameis Winston if we are going for a gunslinger

This is just a guess I have nothing to base this on but my prediction is that our starting QB to start the 2022 season will be Sam Howell.

I think Howell will be on the roster as I believe he’ll slide to the 2nd round and the Steelers will grab him there after going OL in the 1st. But I believe MR will be the starter.

Watching so many of Ben’s less than stellar games this season, Mason will be an upgrade.

Of course he will be back, Tomlin loves having guys to take the blame and fall in the sword for him. For all his non losing seasons, funny how you never see any of his coordinators mentioned for head coaching jobs.

As a diehard Tar Heels fan, I can tell you Sam Howell is legit. He had ZERO protection this year from the offensive line (he was constantly running for his life) and he also lost 4 offensive players to the NFL draft from the previous year (Javonte Williams - Den, Michael Carter - NYJ, Dyami Brown - Was, and Dazz Newsome - Chi). If he is surrounded by even above average talent, he will light a defense up as he is one of the most accurate passers I have seen in years. The guy never gets rattled and stays in the moment regardless of how things are going...good or bad. All you have to do is look at his true Freshman and Sophomore years to see what he can do. Despite him basically having nothing around him this year, he still put up big numbers. Whichever team gets him will not be disappointed in 2-3 years...if not sooner.

Ok, I'll give you that. But honestly can you truly say any other coordinator he selected other than maybe Haley was impressive?

How in the world could anyone want Rudolph?!

If he couldn't beat Ben this year for the starting job, he'll never be any good.

I am an outlier. I want us to trade up for Pickett. I went to Pitt when Marino was there and could not believe we didn't draft him. It was the 80s. Everyone did coke at some point.

I know Pickett is no Marino, but he is a legit first round QB and I just feel like it fixes the universe if we get him.

Rudolph is a noodle-armed dummy compared to top QBs in the NFL.

He was also effectively fired by Tomlin.

Was it a competition this year? I think Rudolph is the obvious transition QB if we’re not looking for a drop-in solution or if we plan on drafting a QB who needs room to grow.

Who I think Tomlin will want is Jimmy G. If he stays healthy he gives a team the best chance to win. I know Tomlin wants a mobile QB but which veteran QB has mobility and will be a FA?

Jameis Winston is another player that could be acquired.

I'm not sure which other QBs might switch teams. Cousins? Need some help here.

Personally I think Pickett and Strong are the best potential franchise QBs this draft and will both be gone when the Steelers pick 19th or whatever. So... yeah.

I would start Rudolph and start a rebuild. Ask Heyward if he wants to be traded to a contender of if he wants to end his career in a rebuild. Trade this year's 1st pick for a 1st pick next year. Have 2x 1sts next year as a bargaining chip. Probably finish 7-10 or so have about a top 10 pick. If there isn't a QB there take the BPA and trade the second 1st back a year.

We won't splurge for a good QB, we won't be in a position to draft a good QB.

We will probably go with Mason and finish .500 for a few years never being in position to draft a blue chip QB.

I see a lost decade ahead.

No doubt. I wasn't really posting the BA comment to try and prop up Tomlin. Just thought we shouldn't be totally myopic about the statement that NO coordinators under Tomlin ever got HC consideration. And BTW, I was a member of the FBAI brigade.

i believe this team has so many holes to fill that i would give Mason a chance to see what he can do without having to be in the huge shadow of knowing Ben is still on the team. Get better around Mason on both sides of ball and see what we have
