I still have to read the article you linked but i think Lefty will be ok too. He's a vet and has a pretty big arm. He just needs to shake the rust off and having the chance to come in late last week should have helped him do that to some degree. I'd look for us to run the ball a good bit this week since the Ravens have struggled stopping the run and to keep the short passing game going to help give Lefty some easy quick passes to build his confidence. Then they can take a few shots down field to Wallace. :)

So for a couple weeks i'm fine with having Lefty in there. But like you said, if Ben's out for the season......

Very good perspective in this article. Leftwich is a backup for a reason - BUT - he's a very good option when there's a reason for a backup. The challenge will be on Haley - to gameplan for Leftwich, and on the whole team to ramp up the execution. Leftwich CAN get it done. That doesn't mean he will - but he CAN - and that's what we have to go on until Ben gets back.

    Good write up.

Does anyone remember back in '08 when Ben got hurt in the Redskins game? I'm thinking it was around midseason. Ben and the offense were having a bad night and the Redskins defense was doing well. He got hurt after the half on a QB sneak and Leftwich came in. We were only ahead by a small margin at that point, and Lefty led a couple solid TD scoring drives which led to a win by a fairly wide margin. For the rest of the week a great number of message board posts were 'Lefty should be our starter!'. :lolol:

It will be interesting to see what the game plan is with Lefty at the helm. If it were business as usual, we would likely have seen a lot of no huddle this Sunday night. A couple weeks ago I would have said the game plan would be airing it out against the Ravens secondary, but they've shown improvement the past couple games. Their inside front is looking more vulnerable than usual.

Yep, I remember that. I was trying to remember who the opposing team was in that game and didn't remember it was the Redskins. The "get rid of Ben and start Lefty" posts were ridiculous, but now I hope he can get in there and play that way again.

Watched that redskin game at a bar here in DC with my brother and co-workers. Game was having trouble and my brother who is a skins fan was going "Uh oh!" Then when Ben got knocked out everyone was like "OOOOOH You're in trouble now!"

Then Lefty wrote the rest of the story and I got to save face :p

With both of the Raven's starting CB's out, lefty may pass for more yard's then we expect. That is he has time to throw :towel:

No its time to run. Reason number one is the Ravens are weak against the run. Secondly we dont want to get Lefty killed winding up that arm. If the Oline performs well and gives him time to throw then I can where it will be an advantage but otherwise establish the running game

i agree with what your saying,.... But with the ravens gearing up to stop the run, it's a possibilty we pass more than expected

Most here are having fun bashing Leftwich especially about his slow release and worry about him getting sacked. Stats say that Lefty has a sack rate of 5.4% of pass plays end in sack while Roethlisberger has a sack rate of 8.4%. That is significantly lower.

Batch has a sack rate of 9.3%.
