I will like to know which Steelers defense you all think was the best defense in the 2010's era. For me, it was the 2010 defense. But the 2011, and the 2019, defenses were also great. Unfortunately, the 2019 defense missed the playoffs. The 2011 defense was dominant until the overtime game in the playoffs. But, that 2010 defense was so great. They were 2nd in points and total yards allowed. 1st in rushing yards allowed. 11th in passing yards allowed. 2nd in red zone touchdowns allowed. 6th in takeaways. And got to the Superbowl.

I think you're right with the 2010 defense.

2011 was really the last year of the Cowher/Lebeau defense. When Warren Sapp said "They're old, slow and it's over" he wasn't wrong just an *******.

7x players were 30+ on that 2011 defense.

The best defense in the Ben era IMO was 2005-06. They faced 3 QBs who were selected to the Pro Bowl that year in the playoffs but held them all under 20 points on the road.

I remembered after the 2011 season, James Farrior and Aaron Smith retired. And the 2005 defense was great, but if we are talking about the best defense's for the Steelers in the Ben Roethlisberger era, then I am picking the 2008 defense. That defense was scary. They had

    Casey Hampton
    Brett Kiesel
    James Farrior
    Larry Foote
    Lawrence Timmons
    Lamar Woodley
    James Harrison
    Ike Taylor
    Ryan Clark
    Troy Polamalu

2010 was great until Rodgers gashed us lol.

30+ to Brady and Rodgers that year

For me it has to be the 2008 defense! They were loaded and got after people. I think they had the toughest schedule in football that year and played a murders row of teams late in the year but still led the NFL in most defensive stats. Don't quote me on this but I think 2008 was the year the defense didn't give up a 300 yd passer until late in the year and I think it was only 1. That's impressive!

Look how anemia our offense was this season. Our defense deserves most the credit (and Boz) for being a Playoff team. Not saying they were as great as the above mentioned but they did a damn good job. I'm a true believer if we had an average linebacker in place of Trent Jordan Watt this is a 4-5 win team.

Personnel wise I agree with you. That defense was more talented.

For as dominating as the 08 defense was, I have to go with the 05 defense. Certainly the numbers weren't there but when the chips were down, they rose up as a team to meet the Challenge. Starting in Minnesota and ending that magical night in Detroit.

And out of the 16 games that year, the Steelers allowed 20 or more points in just 5 out of those 16 games.

    Ravens- 20 points
    Jaguars- 21 points
    Giants- 21 points
    Colts- 24 points
    Titans- 31 points

2019, the offense was so bad though, they struggled to score 13 points a game.

If they can put an exclamation point on it, the 2021 defense will be legendary
