We are only in violent agreement if it’s agreeing to this being a silly argument. If your counterpoint is that Urban Meyer was fired because the Jags aren’t going to the super bowl this year, then the Jags may never find their coach. He was hired to make the team better. As soon as he placed a player on the depth chart, they became his players. And he was fired for not making his players a better team.

What? So Myles Jack played 5 seasons with Marrone from a rookie on up under Marrone's staff but when Urban Meyer became coach Myles became his player? It doesn't matter that Myles Jack was a good veteran player who didn't need coaching?

    ...

So you think that Barry Switzer built the Cowboys? Jimmy Johnson deserves zero credit for the Cowboys 95 Super Bowl?

Barry Switzer's team added Larry Allen but lost Mark Stepnoski, and signed Deion Sanders. That sure isn't a big change. Re-signing Deion who... had previously played under Johnson and had a rapport with the team. :clapping: Switzer!

Wow. What a slap in the face to Jimmy Johnson.

They got rid of Brees because like His record shows...He was not very good outside. You are talking from winning % , int- td%, and completions all go down outside.
There have been years since He was a Saint when He has only had 2 play 2 games outdoors. That is crazy if You think about it. I Like Brees. My Best friend is a born, and raised Saints fan, but if You think His stats, and Wins would be the same if He played in the AFCN, or other divisions that are mainly outdoors, and bad weather teams. Well...

Brees is still better than Manning. Also San Diego has great weather compared to other teams and most games isn't different than playing in a dome.

SD moved on from Brees because of his injury concerns leading to the drafting of Rivers. Then they had to decide between the two QBs and had Rivers under contract as a rookie so the cheaper option. Schottenheimer was Cowher's mentor- weren't as big on QB as some other guys. :roflmao:

If the Chargers had kept Brees and Schottenheimer, and drafted a player to help they would have won a Super Bowl.

Brees is just a winner. I can tell you like him. You do. Maybe it's buried pretty deep but it's there.

Larry Allen and Deion Sanders were pretty significant players.

Had Deion still been a 49er, maybe they don’t lose to GB and then have a rematch with the Cowboys.

When a new coach comes in they install a new system and call new plays. It’s the ultimate team sport. They players are not winning or losing in spite of their coach. Are there teams so talented they can make up for a so-so coach? Sure. That would be your Switzer example. But still he was responsible for that SB win.

Some people, not saying you, but some just can’t bring themselves to admit Tomlin is a good coach.

The coach of the year last year, whom the pundits were picking to go to the super bowl, didn’t make the playoffs. Look at how they talk about his roster. Fact is, none of us know if he’ll ever make the playoffs again or if after a down year next year if he even keeps his job.

Now, look at the coaches that made the playoffs: Belicheck, Reid, Arians, McCarthy, Tomlin, McVay, Shannahan. All have been to the playoffs. With Payton and Harbaugh just missing and Carroll in a down year with lots of injuries.

I’m not sure why it’s so hard for people to accept Tomlin belongs with the group of coaches listed above. I’m sure even though they are 8-4-1 over last 13 there will still be multiple bash Tomlin threads this week.

All those guys you mention have won a postseason game in the past 5 years. Tomlin winning a recent postseason game would go a long way.

I do Like Brees. Though this is a common misconception. They didn't take Rivers because of Brees injury. When Brees got injured Rivers was already on the team.
They took Rivers because they were done with Brees. They didn't believe in Him

They started the season 1-3, they rebounded to win enough games to make the playoffs, sweeping the media favorites Browns and Ravens .

I have more criticisms of Tomlin than praise, but consider this chart:
