    Roethlisberger Yahoo Report

    I just read on Yahoo that 2 sources have said that Ben has a separated shoulder. But it also said the injury was "unusual" so who knows what that means. But so far that's the news.

    Just reported on ESPN by Adam Schefter that its a sprained shoulder. Not sure if that means the same thing, or if they are 2 different things, but I guess we will find out soon enough. I think the sprain sounds better or at least Im hoping it is.

    If he sprained his shoulder I'd say he's done for the year.

    Yeah, Jason La Canfora just said: "Big Ben is home now. MRI complete. Initial diagnosis was shoulder sprain but no timetable til MRI is read. Likely tomorrow"

    Hurt or injured?

    If he is hurt then we could see a repeat of the 49ers game last season if he is injured then we will see if investing in Batch and Lefty for one more year was a good idea.

    I think I recall reading that a typical full recovery is six weeks. Brady played with one in the playoffs last year, though I don't remember what the severity was. Probably not a great example since they lost lol.

    depends on the grade of the sprain , should be from two to ten weeks
    [h=2]Grade1[/h]
    • stretching and microtearing of ligament and capsular tissue
    [h=2]Grade 2[/h]
    • partial tearing of ligament and capsular tissue
    • mild instability of the joint
    [h=2]Grade 3[/h]
    • severe or complete tearing of ligament and capsular tissue
    • significant instability of the joint

    My beer fueled theory?

    His "sprain" will be just fine about a week after the kid is born. ;) (I'm kidding. But even if it were true, I wouldn't blame him)

    I just read some people that have had the injury and they were saying it's tough to recover from and it takes a long time. That's why I was saying that.

    I would bet he is down until the 2nd Baltimore game. He shouldn't be needed in Cleveland. So, it's time for Lefty to show why we kept him as the backup. I seem to recall in the past that he has done well with a full week of preparation. O-line needs to keep him on his feet though.

    The thing that bothers me here is that in '10 we had a defense that instead of just being called "number 1" ACTUALLY WAS "NUMBER 1". This time.... not so much. We faced a team last night that had 30 turnovers and only generated ONE? And then not til OT? We NEED a healthy Troy and I mean bad. I really hope James is still far from 100% because if he's actually healthy right now it might be time to let him go. He's just NOT the Harrison we know and we need him to be the Harrison that we know if we're gonna have to ride on Lefty for a while.

    We don't even know how bad Ben's injury is yet, he may play next week. Let's not go off the deep end yet.

    I'm guessing he's going to miss 3-4 weeks. But, the only Quarterback maybe tougher than Ben was Favre. Ben has played hurt before, so it wouldn't shock me if he played sooner.

    I'd rather have Ben throw left handed than have Leftwich in there. I like Batch but he's easily hurt and hasn't played forever. Maybe we could take one of the receivers as QB and do some kind of crazy running option offense like Navy does.

    After 2 losses to bottom feeders and a near loss to another last night I don't see how anyone can be comfortable with any game and believe we can cruise to a win w/out our best players.

    Exactly. Cleveland is no gimme at this point. And, to whoever said they would rather have Ben throw left handed than have Leftwich on the field, I agree 100%!!

    We've all seen Leftwich play much better. The guy hasn't played in a game in what, almost 2 years ? Plus I'm sure he takes very few snaps with the 1st team week to week. They'll have him much better prepared for this coming weekend. No he won't be performing like Ben but he should still be better than what we saw last night. I also agree with you on Cleveland. This is a team that beat the Chargers 7 - 6. No the Chargers aren't a real powerhouse but they're not a terrible team either. This isn't the NFL of 10 or 20 years ago where you could EASILY pick winners and losers simply based on a team's record.

    Does any of this seem "fishy"...why would he go for an MRI immediately after x-ray and during game. Why not come out in a sling and finish watching the game? Are we sure that his wife didn't go into labor during the game?
    I am not in the burgh, so I cannot listen to the local sports guys...just throwing this out there for thoughts?

    More gloom and doom as usual, Ben wont play this sunday and may be done for the season, Lefty went into that game last night cold, and had no snaps with the first team, he still made some throws and almost hooked up with wallace on a deep throw for 6: Haley will coach him up to speed this week and get his timing down with the receivers and he will be fine next sunday against the rats: The rest of the team will step up and rally around him and take it to the rats, dont forget KC held the rats to 9 points when they played them, so their defense is solid as they proved last night: The Steelers will take their play to a higher level the way they did when they won 3 out of 4 games with backup QBs when Ben was on suspension, I see no reason to declare we cant win sunday because ben is out, if the rats think they have this game in the bag because ben is out thats a plus for us, and lebeau knows he needs to make flacco uncomfortable in the pocket and only good things will come from that, we will be up for the rats sunday because thats a game we always look forward too....Without Ben I still like our chances to win this game, after all it's for 1st place in our Division....
