    This is due in part to Myles being the number one overall pick; said players often are more celebrated than others when successful. For that matter, Joe Burrow is another solid indication of this; Justin Herbert though having just as good of a season.

    Aaron Donald was the 13th overall pick, and people are su**ing his d***, and have been for the last two years.
    Myles was just a "Brown", and all of the sportswriters are trying to save some face after picking the Browns to go to the Super Bowl.

    :hmm:

    Aaron Donald has actually been good since his Rookie Season. For that matter, Aaron Donald has not missed a First Team All Pro Vote since 2015. Why the media is singing Donald's praises louder within the past two seasons is due to the fact that he was a two time DPOY entering 2020. After 2020, he is now a three time NFL DPOY; L.T. and J.J. Watt collectively sharing that distinction. For that matter, Aaron Donald can be argued as one of the greatest ever Defensive Players of All Time regardless of position. Donald's praise is warranted for certain.

    Regarding Garrett, I agree on the take of some of the writers penciling the Browns to head to the Super Bowl but disagree on the notion that Garrett is celebrated simply because of that. Myles Garrett has been spoken of more highly than T.J. Watt due in part to and, sadly so, their draft position. It is also worth noting that Myles Garrett does have some hardware along the way to back up some of the awards he has collected along the way; a Three Time Pro Bowler and a two time All Pro to his credit (a Second Team All Pro in 2018 and a First Team All Pro in 2020). As a result, being such a high value player means he becomes a lightning rod for a talking point of discussion. There is also "that incident" to look at but that is more so a blemish than a positive achievement.

    Overall, I am not stating T.J. Watt is rightfully respected within the media. I am with @SteelersFanIrl@SteelersFanIrl that, for some time now, T.J. Watt has been largely under appreciated by the media. At the very least... I am happy that he is finally getting the recognition he deserves after so long. However, two aspects can be true; .T.J. Watt's popularity stems from his abilities on the field. Myles Garrett's popularity stems from his success in addition to his draft spot.

    I do not like such reasonings any more than you, or others do, to begin with. I am merely stating the obvious when it comes to the Sports Media;

    High Profile Draft Pick

    +

    Sustained Success

    =

    Pay Day for them!

    A lazy form of reporting.... but a profitable one I am afraid.

    It is also a recency thing with Burrow. The hype has intensified greatly because he has put up two monster performances over the last two weeks, helping the Bengals clinch the AFC North and knock off arguably the best team in the AFC.

    The Browns have been on tv the last three weeks, and Garrett hasn't done anything in those games to stand out.

    If Watt sets the sack record, He would HAVE to win it! It's one of the most illustrious records...I " think " he will win it regardless, but setting the record would cement it imo

    Better at what? Jerking a QB’s helmet off of his head and trying to murder him with it? And then accusing his victim of being a racist. Garrett will forever be a race baiting PUNK in my mind!

    The Stains have taken pride in pulling off and wielding or throwing Steeler equipment by their DE's. That is one thing that they are great at, along with giving us a needed 1st down. Brainless fools. JMO>
