Anybody else worried about Muth given that he’s sustained two serious concussions already in his young NFL career? I’m not sure about his concussion history at Penn State…does anybody know that? I just can’t help but think of Ladarius Green and how his promising NFL career was derailed by concussions. Can somebody put my mind at ease?

100% with you on this. I damn near cried when he took that hit. IMO he is future top 5 in the NFL. He can only get better if health holds out. Not sure who will be our QB next season but I'm guessing the guy will need a top notch TE.

Yes, it's worrisome getting two concussions in his rookie year, I hope it doesn't affect him going forward.

I think it’s hard to compare him to Green or even be overly concerned at this point. We just don’t know enough about the severity of the concussions or lack there of.
Me personally I’m not getting too worried until there’s definitely something to worry about.

He didn’t have a concussion history at Penn state but did suffer a knee problem injury that ended his season last year, it hurt his draft status a bit, he could of climbed into the end of a round 1 perhaps if he didn’t get hurt.
He took a shot last Sunday not surprised he’s not playing this week.
Hopefully it doesn’t lead to a re occurring thing

A farmer neighbor had a concussion and he was alright. In a short period of time he had a second. It appears he will never again be alright. Doctor told him it’s not the first one that gets you. It’s the second one.

It's not just him, it also affects the team with him having to miss games, Gentry and Rader aren't the receiving threat Muth is.

Right, but you can have this take and still have empathy for the guy, which is what I’m sure you’re trying to say.

Sidney Crosby suffered back to back concussions in a week and it took him almost a year to recover and get back on the ice. I can remember fans going what's wrong with him football players miss a week maybe two for a concussion. Totally different animal balancing on skates, white ice with lights reflecting and most arena's focus the sound towards the ice. dizziness and vertigo are common with concussions. Hopefully he has at least a year or two between these ones and the next so it isn't compounding

they should actually use that though to their advantage. We saw last week that Gentry can catch and get some yardage. I'd throw in a couple of fake halfback screens and then hit Gentry on the opposite side when they don't cover him.

Just think of all the concussions many of us guys took growing up. If You, or anyone played football, boxed, or many other sports growing up...concussions....Hell if anyone has raised cattle, or horses..You've probably gotten a concussion. I bet most of us has had many concussions. I know I have.

Im with you on this one as well. I hope for his health and the team that he has a healthy recovery and doesn't continue to have concussion problems or his career will be greatly shortened.

Geez, bigbunch, did Santa leave you a lump of coal or something?

My original post was about being concerned about Muth’s long term health repercussions given that he’s had a couple of concussions in quick succession. You’re right in that everyone that plays the game knows the risk, but he’s got a lot of talent and the hope is that he can be a contributor to the team’s success for a long time to come. But it’s okay to also worry about him as a fellow human and to hope that there are no long-term issues.

    It's called basic human decency.

I don't feel sorry for everyone, but I feel sorry for you and your family, if that's a true reflection of your level of empathy for a young man who by all accounts is a decent guy.

So, we're not supposed to be concerned if their second round pick, who looks like a good player had two concussions in his rookie season ?

Yes. That’s definitely a concern. It makes me think back to Chris Borland who retired from the NFL after 1 season due to concussions.
