I've always like Jeff Fisher. Wanted him to have the keys to the Steelers about 8 years ago.

The Kordell-Tomczak-Maddox years. That’s like bragging about beating your kid at scrabble

Fisher didn't own ****. Steve McNair against the Steelers ****ty QB's owned the Steelers. Also, during those years, the Steelers were losing players in free agency in droves.

Jeff Fisher got blessed with Steve McNair and Eddie George. Two very good players. George will probably end up in Hall of Fame. McNair could some day maybe too. Had HOF Bruce Matthews as well one of the best offensive linemen to ever play.
Jevon Kearse was also a beast on defense.

The Steelers could never ever stop TE Frank Wychek, he still haunts my dreams of catching TD pass after TD pass after TD pass down the middle of the seam against the Steelers.

He was a very underrated TE in he history of TE's in the league.

He also lives in the as the guy who threw the pass to beat Buffalo in WC game on the kickoff in the last seconds of the playoff game.

But lets not forget Steelers were a poop Show the 1998,1999, and a lot of the 2000 season

Was gonna say what has already been said.... Fisher had McNair, George and Kearse. When those players left or retired, the Titans were usually terrible or average.

Good Stuff. I still have nightmares of Cliff Branch and Raymond Chester and they nowhere did the damage that Wycheck did.

Maybe someone already mentioned it but didnt one guy break the other guys leg in a game? (Cowher and Fisher?)

Yes, Cowher broke Fisher's leg in a 1983 game. Cowher was playing special teams for the Eagles when he was the first guy downfield to tackle Fisher who was returning a punt for the Bear's.

As we discuss team culture and a coach's impact on it I will always say Fisher was a lot more of a disciplinarian than most give him credit for. That first season back in LA with the Rams he cut a guy on Hard Knocks the 1 st week because he said no girls in camp after this hour and one of the bubble guys had his girl drop off stuff for him, ended up staying past curfew and Fisher told him I had one rule and you broke it so we are releasing you. Didn't have to be the one who told the kid but he did.

I'm sure you would say the same thing if Tomlin was the HC during that time period .

It's a good thing you aren't the Steelers GM then, Fisher was a mediocre HC.

At this point, I'd rather have Fisher at HC for Steelers over Tomlin.

That's not a bad statement. Fisher has always had tough defenses and knew the importance of a strong run game. His teams had an identity. Nothing wrong with saying he'd fit the mold of a Steelers head coach.

I also remember the jaguars having our number quite abit around that time too. Fred Taylor, Jimmy Smith, keenan mccardell, Tony Bocelli and brunell with a stingy D gave us fits. Used to hate playing them...actually still do in way I guess.

I was at a game at 3 Rivers stadium the night that Fred Taylor ripped our defense for around 250 yards.
