I really think Mendenhall is by far the most talented RB on the team.

With that said, I love what Dwyer said. Whether he means it or not, he's being the ultimate team guy. I love it!

I agree, but like I said on another site, it isn't about being the most well rounded back, it is about what you do with that talent. Dwyer three 100 yard games out of 9. Mendenhall has 8 in about 51. That being said, it was during the BA era, so it may not be a clear reflection of reality.

To me, Dwyer isn't successful because he is the fastest. He isn't successful because he has the most power. He isn't successful because he catches the ball great. To me the guy has great vision and great feet and they may be more important than the other stuff. He understands to hit the hole hard and because he does, the offense benefits. If Mendy hit the hole as hard as Dwyer does, this wouldn't even be a debate, Mendy would win by a mile, but Mendy isn't aggressive through the hole, he is always looking for just the right spot to run.

Again, it's a faulty comparison because for the last 5 years, he hasn't had much of a hole to run through. Look what he did against Philly, when there was a hole there, he hit it hard and accelerated through it. People love to say he dances, but show me a clip of him dancing in the backfield instead of hitting a hole that is opened up by the Oline? He's not a power back, he's not going to just plow into the back of an Olineman and hope to get 2 yards, that's not his style. Instead, if there's no hole present, he'll try to find somewhere to go. When there is a hole, he hits it just as hard as Dwyer or Redman does. Very few RB's in the league don't hit a hole hard.

What makes this argument really crazy is Mendy in college was a LARGE back who did run with power in between the tackles. He looked pretty giant in the college ranks. I thought speed would be an issue with him when he came out cause he was so large.

Now Mendy is timid to hit the hole. I guess Ray Lewis messed with his head.

Shaner is correct in his assessment of Mendy. As I have said before, I am a huge Mendy fan but I don't think they should just turn the keys over to Mendy. Dwyer has earned his spot and Mendy, at this point, needs to earn it back.

Starter no Starter really doesn't matter IMO....I think the way our running game is shaping up that the Team is going to just divide up the time a head of schedule.....Dwyer has earned the snaps as a runner and one could say Redman has earned snaps as a short yardage guy and i the passing game,,,,the guys snaaps that will be cut are Batch's IMO ....

When all are healthy we will have a numbers problem at RB and I think Dwyer has played well enough that you sit Batch, but he is a good ST so who knows ???I don't think they will sit Redman if he is healthy ,because Haley stated a few times in the pre season about how well Redman understands his Offense ,plus Red is the best short yardage guy when healthy....

I sure hope Wilson has been working with Mendy on his dancing around trying to find holes to run thru..(God i hate that tech.) We need what has been working for the last few weeks... straight up the middle Dwyer though i know hes not heathly. We are going to miss that brute force run against the G-men although Mendy is a good corner runner and faster...We will see sunday!

Jerome Bettis was never mistaken for a Barry Sanders or Adriane Peterson type of back. Bettis got the handoff and hit the hole and he had great foot work for a big man in tight spaces. thats exactly what we are seeing from Dwyer.

Mendy and Dwyer are completely different type of running backs. Mendy relies on patience and a hole opening up. were Dwyer will try and create a hole and move within the contact.

i think that Dwyer's style works better with the current oline.

After Sunday the problem (and I mean this in a good way) gets bigger for Mendy. If he can come back and EARN time over Redman and Dwyer than he will deserve his carries. Redman has already proven his worth to the team and took it to another level Sunday. Anyhow, Redman and Dwyer are making it easier all the time to get over my Mendy love!

    maybe it's just me...

I don't care who plays, I just want the win.

I don't care how it happens, just win.
