Sophomore slump, and this offence is not suiting his skillset as a downfield threat

    Chase will be fine

I hope You are correct, but I don't remember many great downfield threats that have 2 turn and jump for every catch.

He has a lot to work on but there is certainly still hope. He is young and can improve.

Edit: Was wondering if you were actually serious about this. But hey, hey did reach that career high of 17 receptions in a season four times.

I feel like I'm receiving one every time I see a RB zip right by him.

Hoping the kid can turn it around, but it's a hot mess in the middle right now.

    He just isn't consistent.

I would rather put a guy out there who is more consistent, but not as physically gifted. Bring Claypool in on 3rd downs as a decoy.

Right around when Ben got hurt in Dallas and Tomlin limited his snaps to prevent him from hitting the rookie wall. I wish the last part was green font.

If he can develop between the ears he’ll be fine this slip of an O aside. But chase is trending dummy... it’s the era so there’s that too

Maybe have him work the middle of the field. Oh, my bad, they don't do that

    Would cause some mismatch opportunities.

    Some better throws would help.

Funny thing is that his ball skills on deep passes is probably his biggest issue. He struggles to get any separation and he struggles to go up and get it. He's especially bad at keeping his feet before and during the catch. You would think a guy with his size would be pretty good at using his body. These are not problems good WRs have in their 2nd season.

There has been no progression in his game at all this season which really makes me think he did not put in the work the past year. Frankly it seems like a theme with this team. The culture is not one of hard work and perfection. This is an immature team with poor leadership.

His wanting to dance in practice and have more fun is not indicative of a sophomore slump..... It speaks of a player that lacks maturity and drive to excel at his craft

Yeah he does need to wise up too. Hopefully this season brings him back down to earth a little. His early success may have gone to his head and perhaps he took the foot off the pedal. He has plenty of time however, and whatever flaws he has will be made clear to him. The talent is there so it’s up to him now

    Hey, Ronnie Lott liked Weegie.

    From Wikipedia:
Hall of Fame safety Ronnie Lott gushes when he talks about Thompson. In Thompson's rookie season, 1984, the Steelers were the only team to beat the 49ers. One reason they did was by assigning Thompson to block Lott on every play. "He blocked my butt all day -- and fair," Lott remembered. "Every play, he came after me. And I respect the hell out of Weegie Thompson to this day. He's one of the toughest guys I ever played against."[2]

Might not have been a great football player, but he apparently could be counted on for 100% effort every time. This current Steelers squad could learn a lot from Weegie Thompson.

Former Steelers WR coach Richard Mann could've helped Claypool get better.

It is ridiculous to say you would take Weegie Thompson over Chase Claypool. Weegie Thompson is 60 years old.
