Today in the Washington Post the NFL apologized for blowing a call giving Carolina a TD against the 'skins. (I believe Carolina won by 8 points.) I am wondering why the NFL did not do the same to us for one of the 50 calls that were blown by the officials?

Rumor has it that every official that blew a call in the NFL this week will be replaced by a replacement ref starting in the order that had the least blown calls. After they are all gone robots will be used.

Isn't there a process in place to address bad calls? I thought I read somewhere that a coach has to send a letter to the NFL.

Because the NFL is standing by their call that Ben fumbled the ball. They're not going to give us an apology when they still claim the right call was made.

I found an article a few months ago about an NFL ref's preparation for a game. It's technically a part time job, but they put in about 35 hours a week between reviewing game tape, taking tests etc. If I remember correctly they're required to submit reports on any onfield incidents, questionable calls blah blah blah. Their job is far more involved than one would think.

I was thinking more along the lines of the NFL not making a statement unless a formal request is made by a team. Why would the NFL voluntarily come out and say they screwed up?

They've already came out and admitted the Panthers touchdown call was incorrect, but nothing about the calls during the Steelers/Giants game. Makes you wonder how stupid they think we are? Even the Media have backed off the pressure.

I wish the replacement refs woulda worked our game...the score woulda been 24-6. They were never as bad for a full game as Bill Leavy and his crew on Sunday

Did the Panthers send a letter to Goodell? Why would the media continue to beat a dead horse?

You didn't read the article. The Panthers didn't have to send on they were the benificiaries of the bad whistle. The NFL issued a written statement about that error on Monday. It is now almost Wednesday (for you folks in the CONUS) and nothing has been said about the blatant stuff in the Pitt/NY game.

I just got blown by a call girl while wearing a Steelers hat-does that help? Restitution via prostitution. And I am in NYC, too, working on the cl3anup, but not related to the aforementioned.

Only if the NFL picked up the tab, and I'll bet they didn't. So no restitutuion. But I hope you enjoyed yourself.

So far, all I've heard "officially" is excuses trying to defend the bad calls. The closest thing to an official admission that they were bad calls was from Mike Pereira's tweets saying they were bad, but since he's no longer in the position he once was, the NFL isn't going to follow suit.

Goodell issued the following inter-office communication on Monday morning :
"For future reference, there is no such thing as a bad or blown call if the call goes against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Any apologies (written or oral) will result in the immediate dismissal of the responsible party."

    :hehehe: :swordsman:

I'm wondering if the Rooney's aren't just keeping it all in house. It's well known that they have no problem calling the league out on things like this.

They probably are keeping it down because of the elections and not wanting to seem like they care more about it than the disaster.

Doubt it has anything to do with the election or hurricane Sandy. The Steelers don't make things public. Everything is done behind the scenes.

They stood up for harrison before, you'd think they'd say something about the BS Clark hit. They're probably saving it to get something pushed through when the teams meet at the end of the season.

Harrison was fined and suspended but Clark wasn't. I'm not sure what there is to stand up for.

True, but usually you see the fines list come out and they state someone not being fined for whatever hit/penalty. The league is just not talking about it, just hoping it goes away.

I've never seen a list showing players who would not be fined. Have a link?

That's what I'm asking. Normally someone posts a link with who's getting/not getting fines for whatever hits.
