I went to a December game in New York a few years ago. I will never ever forget the cold, it was absolutely unbearable. My wife was with me and she bailed out 15 minutes in to the game, she sat in the warm club area and drank a few beers while I valiantly stuck to the task.

That said, we were naive and not dressed appropriately for the occasion. I would have no hesitation going again in any weather, it’s all about being layered up and ready for whatever the elements throw at you.

Yeah, BUT I haven't been to a Steelers game in Pittsburgh yet either. My guess is that the cold temp games don't sell out near as much and there might be some deals I could scoop up because people are dumping tickets or there's some still available when bad weather happens.

This is generally true. Opponents, win/loss record, weather, etc

As a So Cal resident, I will curse the day the Steelers put a roof over Heinz field. It’s Pittsburgh football not Rams football

It’s going to be in the high 30s tomorrow morning when I step into the river to flyfish. I can’t wait.

If you dress appropriately, you'll be fine. As others said, wear layers. And remember, you can take stuff off if you get too warm, but if you don't wear enough, you're stuck with what you have.

We went to a December game in Pittsburgh (Duck vs. the Browns) and it was cold and wet, around 32 degrees, but thankfully the rain stopped before the game started. I wore a short sleeve t-shirt with a long sleeve t-shirt over it, and a zip up hoodie over all of that, with a Jersey on top. I ended up taking a couple of those layers off b/c I got too warm.

We're going to the game in Cincinnati this Sunday, and I'll do the same thing. My wife, who is terrified of cold, is pretty worried but I gave her the same advice about wearing multiple layers. They don't need to be very thick layers b/c each layer will trap a little bit of heat. You just have to have enough layers.

Tomorrow (Saturday) is fist day of rifle season.

Not sure all will enjoy it. The ones who dress for the weather, with layers, same as the game, will be more comfortable. Those shirtless hunters, God bless them.

As long as I can enjoy tailgating, I don't care about the temperature. The wind, well, that's another issue especially if mixed with precipitation. Good luck at the game and be thankful you're not the one playing in it.

I was a young guy sitting at Pitt Stadium back then and cherished all the times I was able
to go to Pitt stadium. I loved it there, it was like a second home to me when PITT was IT.

The coldest temp I ever sat through for a game was in the teens with wind chills into the single digits. Damn that sucked.

The only vision this thread brings to my mind is fond memories of Mike Webster breaking huddle and running to the line of scrimmage in a snow storm showing the 'guns' on his bare arms.

We were youngsters back then. That cold and snow didn't bother us back then.

The Steelers have “sold out” every home game since 1972. Bad weather may mean cheap resale, but you’re better off waiting until 5 minutes after kick off when the scalpers in front of the stadium are desperate to get anything for unsold tickets

It's not just you. I got tickets super, super cheap ( think $40 each) for the Division round game Jax at Steelers because the weather was so crappy! Took my cousin ( a Browns fan) and we snuck in a flask of Bourbon, after getting toasty at breakfast. What weather?

Being an Ohio boy, I get all the soda/ pop references. When moved to Arkansas, and ordered a coke, " what kind of Coke" blew my mind.

And to be fair, it was still the end of the Ice Age when you and Mojave were young, so you just didn’t know it could actually be warmer.

This is Pittsburgh. We welcome the cold. That’s how real football is played.
