Great post. With as good as Harris has been can you imagine how good he’ll be once our OL gets better. The sky is the limit for this kid.

The Steelers passed on them multiple times because they already drafted a similar back in the first round.

All I can figure is this guy is obsessed with being right. Or at least having everyone think the same way as he does. Heck he may end up being right who knows. But damn does he have to bring it up in every friggin thread? can he move on to the next subject already?

We can point to good late round backs in every draft but the hit rate is minuscule after rounds 2-3. For every Elijah Mitchell there are at least five Benny Snells, and it’s largely luck because no team drafts the good ones consistently.

I didn’t see anybody looking for the Steelers to draft Stevenson, Mitchell or Carter before the draft and even if they had taken one of them this OLine isn’t set up to help an average back succeed and it was never going to be fixed on one offseason. It’s hindsight looking back on the likes of Carter and Mitchell at this stage.

I think Maddog and Scribe bring some good thoughts. I also think both can become obsessed with getting everybody else to agree with them. We all do that from time to time, but they take it to another level. And it can end up detracting from what started as a thought/idea/point of view as valid as any other.

It's the whole Edmunds vs. Leonard thing. WTH is that still being kicked around?? Edmunds was a reach. Looking pretty obvious he wasn't worth the reach (miracles and Hail Maries are real). Leonard would've been an equal reach. Looks like he would've been worth the reach. Fin.

Yup. A point many of us have made many times but it’s like you said.

The Steelers weren't going to draft Carter, they were looking for a feature RB and Carter is 5'8.

You wanted the Steelers to draft Sermon in the third round, who has been a healthy scratch quite a few times this season.

They would have gotten bargains at that point in the draft. Using your logic the Steelers didn't reach for Terrell Edmunds and Artie Burns because by definition they were first round picks.

All of those guys would have put up the same stats as Najee given the touches, maybe better, and were gotten much later in the draft. Where someone is drafted doesn't define their value as an NFL player. Stunning that this simple point has eluded you.

On a loaded team, which as I have said multiple times is the only time you might do that, when you don't have holes everywhere else. Even then he was bad value IMO.

Yeah, imagine that - they found two mid to late round backs and have a better run game. If he's a miss, at least they didn't blow a first round pick on a back.

The Steelers didn't blow a first round pick on a RB, because he's the real deal .

Those guys wouldn't put up the same stats as Najee, because they aren't as talented as him, he gets extra yards on his own.

Clearly how the draft works eludes you.

    ..... Anyway!!!!!!

Najee Harris has been and is currently, the absolute least of the teams worries. Much like T.J. Watt and Cameron Heyward, any worry about him should not exist and never mind be a thought to begin with. What is paramount is building a quality Offensive Line in front of him for him to bring consistently great results. Much of those special moments have already been on display already and I doubt that such special qualities, from not just a player but man who wants to better himself overall, is fading anytime soon.

Barring extreme circumstances, Najee Harris has become a cornerstone of the Steelers; a face that the team can easily market and a blue chip talent that is needed to win. Realistically speaking and, I understand this is going to sound somewhat controversial but, this Offense... really is no longer Big Ben's. This Offense is now Najee's to command.

Losing Big Ben has already proven...... yuck. Losing Najee??

Then why was Najee rated as the #1 RB? Carter wouldn't be a three down back in Pittsburgh.

So, I believe we can all see that there is nothing wrong with Najee's speed, he just needs a lane to be able to open his stride and accelerate. Those lanes have come few and far between this season.

Always fun to pull up old threads that were so totally, terribly, incredibly wrong.
