While the question is up in the air about Ben in 2022, I heard after the game yesterday Charlie Batch and Bill Hargrave stating Tomlin has said he feels the need for a mobile QB after Ben retires. They believe Rudolph may be the QB in 2022, but if they get a mobile QB in the 2022 draft that is whom could be our QB for 2023. While I can agree to some extent and understand the excitement of the mobile QB, I feel mobile QBs have a short shelf-life. They are an anomaly first few years until everyone figures out how to play them. After one team figures out how to play them, then every other defense follows suit. I'm still a classic drop back QB myself. I hope we can still get that type of QB in the next draft if the next man up isn't on the roster already. A certain degree of escape-ability is always a plus, but I'm not looking for the QB that's a lead rusher at times.

I used to feel the same way about pocket passers over running QB’s but as long as a running QB can also throw, I want that now. QB’s are so protected that even while running it’s not something I am really concerned with. I watch Lamar, Murray and Allen run every week and they don’t come close to absorbing a hard hit.

Yesterday’s game, pocket passer all the way.

Today’s game, give me a running QB. It’s murder on a defense.

Our next franchise qb is either Mason Rudolph(highly doubtful) or will be drafted in 2023. I don’t see a franchise guy in the 2022 draft. I believe the Steelers will use the 2022 draft to fill other needs. With cornerback being the highest priority.

Wish Steelers could find a QB who is both mobile and accurate.... in the mold of Russell Wilson.

Give me a smart, accurate gym rat with the mobility to get out of the pocket if necessary and pick up a first down. Any other running is gravy.

The athletic ability wanes over time, but the smarts increase.

probably be ben, flacco, fitzpatrick and dalton on the practice squad. the only running will be to pee because they still don't feel empty yet. we will see a lot of walkers brought in as practice equipment. hiring extra nurses for in game sponge baths. we may see geritol now on the water bottles. half time will be extended for naps. we also will have no more night games past 7:00 pm.

We will win too many games to get a good QB in the draft after this season. Maybe the Wake Forest kid after 2022.

I just hope it doesn’t take 20 years to get a franchise…elite franchise QB again.

Doesn't matter to me if it's a mobile QB or a pocket passer. I just want to win games and SBs. I still think there's room for a traditional QB in today's game. Even guys like Elway, Young and even Ben fit the role of a hybrid mobile/pocket passer like Mahomes and Wilson of today.

They went 21 years without a franchise QB between Bradshaw and Ben...it may be a while.

It's rare to have them back to back. Some teams never have 1 let alone 2.

It took a 6-10 season for the Steelers to get ben and a 1-13 season to get Bradshaw.

Yes, but what does that have to do with passion? He walked around like an automaton with a placid look on his face.
