    Steelers’ Melvin Ingram Drawing Interest

    https://www.profootballrumors.com/2021/10/steelers-melvin-ingram-drawing-interest

“The Steelers have been receiving trade inquiries on pass rusher Melvin Ingram, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport. Even though Ingram hasn’t necessarily impressed in Pittsburgh, teams are interested in adding his experience at an affordable salary.

Another club would only have to pay Ingram the prorated portion of his $1.075MM base salary, since the Steelers have already paid his $2.925MM signing bonus. It’s not clear which teams have called on the veteran, but RapSheet notes that the Chiefs have been on the lookout for edge help. The Chiefs were also among the teams to meet with Ingram in the offseason, prior to his July deal with Pittsburgh.

The Steelers appear to be listening on Ingram, per Rapoport, a sign that a deal could come together soon. The Steelers have a little over week until the Nov. 2 trade deadline if they want to turn the 32-year-old into future draft capital.

Ingram’s knee trouble held him to just seven games for the Chargers last year. But, before that, he notched 49 career sacks en route to three straight Pro Bowls from 2017-19. He had exactly zero sacks in 2020, but Pro Football Focus gave him a solid 76.3 pass-rushing score, good for top-20 among all OLBs/DEs.

So far this year, Ingram has ten tackles, one pass defensed, and one sack across six games.”

Won't happen. This team never wants to give the impression they're selling for better or worse.

I just don't see the Steelers trading Ingram (or any player), unless a teams makes an offer that we can't refuse.

I for one, hope they do not trade Ingram. We have 3 starting caliber OLB's and nothing beyond that.

Not going to happen. Just a rumor and nothing more. Unless something of equal value is given in return, Ingram is not gong anywhere.

We don't have the depth. And Ingram shows he has signs of being better than what we've seen so far.

So it's going to have to be a big trade. And I don't see anyone offering a big trade on someone with a knee issue.

Yeah at least a 3rd rounder for him, but there is nothing behind them at all right now! All you'd be doing is running Watt and Highsmith into the ground and getting diminishing returns as they wear down.

Rapoport is reaching, he’s known to do this. I’m sure every GM will hear what kind of offer someone has for a player of theirs. Doesn't mean they are interested in shopping him.

Why do fans think other teams will give up a good draft pick for a 32 year old OLB, who will be a free agent after the season?

I think football is a rough sport to wave the flag in and give up on the season especially if your a game below .500 or even at .500.

Sometimes a team comes together and catches fire. Heck even look at Tampa Bay last year mid- November they looked like a joke and weren't playing really well and then boom down the stretch they won some games and took it the whole way to a Super Bowl Championship.

Even in 2005 when the Steelers were stuck at 6-5, and won the remaining 5 games, and went in as a 6 seed and won the Super Bowl.

If you some team like the Texans, Dolphins, or Jags, I can see you moving somebody to get a pick, but when your at .500 or close to it, your not really out of it and trading a key person I think sends the wrong message to the rest of the locker room, if management gives up, why wouldn't some of the players too, on an NFL roster.

The NYT has current odds for teams to reach the playoffs, the SB, to win their division, etc.
For the people who say the Steelers have no chance, they were listed at 30% to make the playoffs.

That may not mean much. The web page didn't mention their methodology. I don't know if the Times got those probabilities from computer simulations, or pulling random numbers out of their backsides. But I'm skeptical of those who are certain the Steelers should give up right now.

they can keep bringing in and changing players but until they take the one's off the field that are underperforming it won't make a difference. they have taco sitting there. they have killebrew sitting there. they have joseph sitting there. they have a couple of WR's sitting there. they have schobert sitting there but we keep the same players in the same spots and hope for different results. frustrating for sure.

and really by this point it is all from a coaching standpoint that makes it fustrating. You have players on your roster that could help you win and you dont play them or dont play them enough

    Wrong, badly wrong

This team tries to be competitive every year, if you had been around a few years you would know this

    Your impression comment is foolish

If JuJu was healthy then it wouldn't be a bad idea, but if they trade Washington it means more Ray Ray on offense.

Washington is better than McCloud however he seems to be in someone's dog house. Not sure if it's the FO or MT but he really gets no playing time and he deserves more. Might as well trade him if he's not going to be used.

The WR coach said after the Seattle game he will start to get more playing time, I guess we will find out in the Browns game.

He’s not on anyone’s dog house, relatively he’s just not very good. If he was, he would get the ball. It’s that simple.

"The Los Angeles Rams have traded linebacker Kenny Young and a 2024 seventh-round pick to the Denver Broncos in exchange for a 2024 sixth-round pick, the Rams announced."

Despite the Broncos having 8 linebackers injured, 6 on IR, they only gave up a 6th (closer to 7th) to get a starting-level LB from a team that didn't need him.

Whatever fans think the team can get for Washington, Ebron, Haden, or Ingram, expect any actual offer to not be worth it.
