They are only 1-3 on the road this year so maybe its a good change. I don't blame them with all the mess that New York is right now with hotels being full due to the hurrincane, good move on the Steelers part I think.

The hotel they were booked to stay in, in NJ, still doesn't have power. No other hotel is available or operational in the area.

Curious as to what time they will go and where they will be until time to go to the stadium.

they should play in pittsburgh this weekend

after hearing the devastation in NY, the game should move to pittsburgh this weekend. It's going to be very distracting trip to NY. I remember that after Katrina kit new orleans, the game between the saints and giants moved to NY.

Apparently the league/governing officials/etc has deemed it ok/safe/etc to play there...for the NO game that year it wasnt. If they say its ok then it should be fine.

Hope there is no jet lag (even though the flight to and from is not that long). It's true the hotels are booked as not only are the Jersey Hotels booked due to the residents being without power in the surrounding counties but there is a huge number of layovers from flights being cancelled and NY area hotels below 39th street in Manhattan tht are also without power (the amount of hotels from 39th street to the World Trade would probably me more than 75 so naturally some guests had to be moved to the neighboring state). Hurricane sandy did a number on our state (I was lucky, no flooding and I only lost power overnight. Half my town is still without power and I'm in Central NJ). It's going to interesting to see the attendance at this weeks game. Because of lack of power there haven't been many deliveries to towns in NJ for food or GAS. In my town only 2 of 6 gas stations are open or have gas. The line to get gas runs 2hrs plus, and there is a max of $30 to $50 that stations are allowing NY and NJ). This is the case at every station along the NJ Turnpike (which leads to MetLife Stadium). Don't know if people will be able to drive to the stadium on Sunday. Ticket prices on ticket exchange and StubHub should drop substantially by Fri, Sat though. I plan on attending with 4 other Steelers Nation brethren on Sunday so if anyone else is coming to Subdays game you can send me a message if you want to tailgate or need advice

they r big boys it shouldnt matter. I mean how long of a flight is it? I think it may be better. Instead of sittin around all day waiting for the late start, they will probably head to stadium as soon as they land. Maybe ike will not have enough time to think about cruz. This team should be fine though. Alot of veteran leadership.

I am going on Sunday. I will be driving in from Albany NY, where I assume there is still plenty of gas, so I should be well okay.
I have made the Newark to Pitt flight before, several times- and assuming their plane takes off and lands on time, it is a relatively short hop in the air.

You do raise some interesting points- I am wondering how many people will not be able to attend the game, and whether there will be a lot of no-shows. A partially empty stadium should work to the Steelers advantage, I would think.

A little extra information from the following article: "Pittsburgh will fly at 9 a.m. on Sunday and arrive in New York about 90 minutes later, well ahead of the scheduled 4:25 p.m. kickoff. The team will charter home later Sunday night."

You could make the case for moving down in the stands too!

Really though with that much power expected to still be out, I wonder if the stadium will be full due to people not having any other way to see the game.

Not to mention that if my house had been washed away or burned down, I may as well try to enjoy something and go to the game anyway, assuming I already had tickets of course.

Sounds fine to me. I'm many teams have had tighter schedules/flights/etc before. This is a non issue.

I don't have far to move down- I'm in the 10th row.

What I really can't believe is how they are planning to have the NYC Marathon on Sunday.

Why are some of you saying it should have been canceled? The stadium is fine and i am sure some people would like to forget their problems for a few hours. I remember a few years ago san Diego playing a gam with houses burning miles away.
