Pretty sure I've never seen 'hyperbole' on this message board.
I'm not sure it even fits here(hey, I gadueeated Steel Valley), but I'm giving it a 'harumph'!

If he can come back from this and steamroll FlakeO a few times, we'll all forget this even happened.

Maybe the cops jumped into his path before he had a chance to react, maybe the cops thought that's all they had to do, but the guy was hammered he wasn't thinking straight at the time. I blame the cops for jumping into the path of a fleeing car, they aren't superman. There's guys in the league that have done much worse.

Why is Ta'amu still on the team? Because the Rooneys read my posts!

    That's allegedly.
And as far as Mclendon goes, what has he done to prove he is better than Hampton?

Sounds like a nice guy, and he learned his lesson. I vote we keep him!

So says the man with his hand caught in the cookie jar. Fine, maybe he truly believes this, maybe his agent prepared it for him. I ain't judging the guy, he could be sincere, time will tell.

But I will say this. When this board chortles about the next Bengal criminal transgression, or spouts off about the superiority of the "Steeler" way or what the Rooney won't tolerate. I will roll my eyes and move on to the next thread.

Those sticking up for him - what would you be saying if he played for the Ravens, Bengals or Patriots?

    Just curious.

I can't believe how some people hold to the notion that the Rooneys are the moral compass of the National Football League. Face it, fellas. They're in business to win, just like all the other team owners. If they believe the player is expendable, they get rid of him, e.g. Cedrick Wilson. If they believe the player can help them win, e.g. James Harrison or Ben Roethlisberger, they keep him. The only exceptions are repeat offenders like Santonio Holmes. It's all about winning.

I have no problem with them if they choose to part ways after all the facts are sorted out in court and they decide he's not Steeler material, but to do so based on the court of public opinion is just silly.

Unfortunately the court of public opinion is apparently important to the NFL. You know, "tarnishing the shield" as was mentioned with Ben's alleged problems.

I know the guy hasn't been convicted but the evidence against him is pretty overwhelming. I don't think Ta'amu or the NFLPA would be one bit surprised if he was released as a result of this incident instead of just serving a short suspension.

OK! I understand the Steeler way of not putting up with players who lack good character. But, I think what us as fans rarely hear is how this franchise we love so much helps young irresponsible men grow into people with GREAT character. Some of you are talking about this kid like he is a piece of meet and the Steelers are some political group who is going to be embarrassed of him. The Steelers have their way of reading a person with poor character that will consistently make poor decisions vs. a young kid who was brought up the right way, knows right from wrong but has made some poor decisions.

"I was embarrassed to call my family. It was out of my character to do something like that. I promise it will never happen again."

This quote leads me to why I am posting this reply. I personally know a first cousin of Alameda's and she is a very hard working lady who always puts her family first. When he was drafted by the Steelers she went over to the Seattle area to a huge family get together and she said the things he was saying and how greatful he was for his success of being drafted into the NFL was very humbling. I think a few years down the road the same people that are "shocked" that the Steelers haven't released him will be saying they are glad they didn't give up on him before his career even got started.

I hope you are being sarcastic here when you blame the cops. If you are I apologize ahead of time for what I will type next! As I type, keep in mind I am not passing judgement on his character but am passing judgement on his behavior. Arguing over whether he is a good guy or not is irrelevant. As to the above, you are really going to accuse the cops for jumping in front of him, blame the cops for jumping in front of a fleeing car in an attempt to stop him and then excuse him because he was "hammered". Are you serious??? Do people really believe this kind of stuff? I suppose that you blame the cops for him drinking and getting behind the wheel of the car, right? Because had he not made that choice none of this would have happened. I suppose if he would have hit someone crossing a street it would have been their fault, too! Yes, fortunately, he did not kill anyone and everyone here can form their own opinion about the severity of the mistake. This does not and should not take away from the fact that it was a serious mistake and could have very easily been a tradegy. We have all made mistakes, and I'm not arguing whether he should get a second chance with the team or not because that is up to the team, but I have never been arrested for drunk driving, taking the chance of killing someone else. Maybe we should blame the car dealer for selling him the car that he drove in. I mean they should have know that he was going to drink and drive at some point! Blaming the cops for this...I think I have heard it all now. Yes, when I or any officer I know are on patrol, when a car runs from us, the first thing we think of is stopping the car by running in front of it. If we should be hit by the guy that decided he shouldn't be held accountable for his actions it is our fault because we should know we aren't superman. Ok, sorry for the rant. It touches a nerve when people try to minimalize something like this and/or blame cops for others actions.

Good post but you should probly split it up a bit, as it is hard to read. Well for me anyways. Then again, it's 2:43 am at the moment so i might just be visually impaired.

Well I say give him another chance. And if he played for the Ravens, Pats, or Bengals, I'd probably laugh at their misfortunes. Yeah. I'm biased. Probably won't change.

Remember the evidence we're getting is the police's version of the incident. Not saying that it's not true, but for me I'll wait until everything plays out with the justice system before I pas judgement. I think the Steelers may be doing the same which is the responsible thing to do.

I'm glad the Steelers don't cave in to head hunting fans! Heck if they every based any of their decisions on some of the posts on this message board we wouldn't have much of a team left!

I didn't have time to read all of this, but my view of Jims post was we don't know exactly what happened. Don't believe everything the media spins out.

Ok... say the BAC is right (it is measured, not an opinion) and half of the 14 counts are legit. Yikes!

hey SteelerGlen..I highly doubt the police version is erroneous. I still stand by my original post, and think the Steelers should cut ties with this guy. Breaking the law as egregious as he has is unacceptable...

And no I am not a headhunting fan..However, I have been a fan for over 35 years, and I am glad to see most people agree with me..

With that said..I hope he learns from this and turns his life around.

You have already found him guilty based on what you've heard and read in the media, that's just wrong. All I'm saying is let him have his day in court then decide what to do with him. Is that not acceptable in this country anymore? If he's found guilty then I might agree with you.
