Matt will not want to see a step back as this year will be mad tough... I think If Dobbs was available he would start this week.. As I stated last year he was our best chance in the playoffs ..Even a start for a few series probably wins that game,,,Anyway I think Matt likes to move the pocket he likes zone read,he likes the sprint game, running and passing ,RPO'S with a threat a huge part of a run/pass option ...Simply as a QB u best account 4 me as well..

I have seen enough of what he wants to run and his desire to put pressure on a Defense he needs a mobile QB and we will drat 1 ,but Dobbs will start until the draft pick takes over...

Do people think Dobbs doesn’t age? He’ll be 27 next yr and has thrown all of 17 passes in his pro career. 27 sounds young. But, If Dobbs starts for the Steelers next yr, they will still have the oldest starting QB in the AFCN.

Other notable QBs younger than Dobbs: Mason, Haskins, Mahomes, Josh Allen, DeShaun Watson.

i haven’t checked this, but I’d guess there are currently at least 20 starting QBs in the league thst are younger than Josh Dobbs

Are you the guy that thought Heyward bey was the best WR on the team and thought he should play safety as well?

    C'mon man.

If starting Dobbs is the Steelers only hope, then there truly is no hope.

everyone is ganging up on Ben, he is washed up, bench him, he threw for over 300 yrds against the Bengals, that is good , its not over for him and this offense, people forget that before Ben there was Maddox but before that there was Kordell Stewart who couldn't throw for 30O yrds if it was snowing: meaning it was very difficult to have 300 yrd passing game w Kordell as QB, so Ben is not done, I have not given up on this offense and Canada, but I do have to say a mobile QB cld have made more plays than Ben did in that game, but Ben is not done, I see improvement, taking it game by game

When I saw “Dobbs starts” I was expecting the next words to be “his new job as an engineer at Lockheed Martin.”

In all seriousness though, it’s possible that he could have a career in coaching if he wants to stay in football, but the chances of him starting at QB for an NFL team in anything but a short term, desperate situation are pretty slim.

He can't as he was not on the initial 53 man roster, was just a smooth way to keep him and protect him ...With this OL I have no doubt a mobile QB starts next year and as Dobbs is the most mobile he gets the nod for a game or 2..

Not the best WR but the best deep threat and as we can all see Ben is not good at deep throws so DHB and his speed had very little value..

I love this idea that a young man who spent the better half a decade learning to be an aerospace engineer and doing internships at NASA is going to chuck it out the window to coach football and make less than a vested veteran makes as a backup. Not that it couldn't happen but it's an exciting time to be in space exploration. Who wouldn't want to do that.

By “desperation” I mean a situation where to top 2-3 guys are injured and the team needs a warm body to throw out there. It looked to me that you were suggesting he’d be an interim starter. Big difference.

Dobbs obviously has a passion for football, he’s young enough to invest 10 years of his life to coaching and still have a 30 year career in aerospace.

They kept Dobbs around for a reason. He doesn’t have a season ending injury, they essentially kept him from being picked up from another team. They must like having him around and he must be ok with that. I imagine he is pretty involved with preparations and whatnot, he was again seen in Bens ear last week. I can’t recall Rudolph and Ben ever being next to each other let alone conversing.
