Hadn't seen this yet, but on the throw to chase when he hurt his junk, DJ was wide open after a great route and a stumble by the CB!

Tbf it looks like the pocket wasn’t holding up great. At the same time he missed single coverage on DJ and threw into a group of Bills… let’s hope these kind of plays are kept to a minimum this season.

Looking at it again, looks like the Safety took a few steps out and toward DJ's side and Ben made up his mind that he was going to have help there over the top on a cross body throw.

Then the safety just read Ben (he never looked over at all and his whole body was set to throw right on a quick pass) and left him singled up essentially. A little more time in the pocket and even a glance over and DJ is taking that to the house!

That's a read your expecting your QB to make though.

By the time the corner fell the ball was out and with the safety shading DJ on the hashes this isn't an obvious misread

Safety had his hips in creeping towards the Steelers sideline before the snap. Should of known DJ would be 1 on 1 at that moment. But the pocket didn’t hold long enough anyways. This Oline NEEDS to be better if they are gonna push the ball down the field.

I seen this in the game the 2nd time I watched it, but said nothing....Because the ball is already gone. Who the heck calls a Guy open after the ball is gone.
A lot of players get open after the ball is gone. LoL

It’s easy for people to throw stones at him after the fact, but the pre snap read was that the safety could be going either way, and that there was pressure coming from the right, allowing 1 v 1 coverage on both receivers to that side. It was only at the snap, or maybe a half second before the snap that the safety committed to the right and assured 1v1 coverage on DJ. At that time the pressure was coming, and Chase was 1v1 and well positioned for that throw. If Ben had time, he could have reset and looked left to check on the 1v1 situation on DJ, but the pressure was advancing. I don’t think it was a bad decision given the pressure.

Yeah, we're looking at it with the advantage of perspective and able to watch it all play out. That's what Ben and his receivers used to destroy defenses with though. A little more time in the pocket and Ben making a guy miss, you get the "Ben being Ben" making that play.

From 2006-2009, Ben was eating 46-50 sacks a season.
Now he endures less than half of that.
Quick safe passes reduce the number of big plays, but if it keeps him from getting injured, it is worth it.
(We'll see if he takes more risks when the team falls behind.)

    They won the game FFS.

I promise you whatever you found a week after the game they looked at on film on the sideline right after the series was over.

Oh no doubt they will be using that play at some point later in the season. Probably one of those checks like he used to do with AB.

I'd probably make a very good guess that a lot of these plays that we think aren't producing anything, are very likely to be coming around again taking advantage of a defense that's been watching tape.

We’ll see. Years back I remember this play were Jason Gildon [?] almost got burned for a TD in the red zone (bad throw). Next week the Patriots ran the same play and scored.

There is an Media attack on Him . I don't know why. You Can say He played poorly. So did 10 other Qbs I can think of right off the Top of My Head last week, and One was the Beloved A. Rodgers....Yet no attack on them:shrug:

He had Harris wide open right in front of him today, and the moron is looking to force another one in 300 yards away.

That's why he didn't throw to Johnson, he was wide open. Ben only throws into triple coverage.

That happen a couple of times against the Raiders. Also at times Harris didn't go out to get open and just stood around. Conner always went out as an outlet. Agree Ben should of checked down instead of the Bombs away.

He only throws short, He only throws long, He holds on 2 the ball 2 long, He gets rid of the ball 2 fast so plays don't have time 2 open up, He doesn't throw 2 the middle of the field, the only long throws He makes are in the middle of the field, and He never throws down the sideline.....I swear in the 3 season I've watched this board, and later commented.....what I just said are words from different peoples mouths.
Nobody finds this funny????. Even more funny is a lot are out of the same peoples mouths.

Ben didn't have his best game, but this one is actually a good throw. He saw an open receiver where he was already looking so I'd assume that was his first read, and completed it for a nice gain. The problem on O is definitely not our receivers.

Ben wanted to make hay with Claypool, Chase needs to realize Ben's limitations like Brown use to.
