My observations from the bills game

D looks better than 2019 and 2020, OL needs a ton of work, in the mean time they're going to have to do a better job of scheming runs. Too many times they run into stacked fronts. Ben needs to audible out of that. On one play in particular, the announcers blamed the OL, who actually had the play blocked up pretty well, when Najee was hit by two guys at the LOS. Those guys were DBs. They literally had 11 in the box. Gotta be smarter than that.

Great, exciting win, but not of the sustainable variety. Celebrate it, stack it, get back in the lab and fix what's not working.

I'd have to go back and watch, but wasn't defensive pressure something to do with why Allen was missing wide open guys?

Also, I'd argue in the second half the offense used playaction well to nullify the stacking the box. Whether that was an audible or designed I don't know, but given how bad Ben is traditionally with playaction it certainly left some guys open for us.

I agree with your last line though. I don't think anyone is calling us champions yet, but we did play better than many were expecting.

They seem to be doing a great job on defense. I heard they only blitzed twice during Bills game.

Ben was good with PA early to mid career just not sure when that changed. It would absolutely destroy teams that think they are predictable and who want to play single high and press man at the line. Any one of the WR's or TE'S get behind them on PA and its a big gain.

That sounds about right. The pass rush was enough to pressure Allen all day. Which is a good example of how a good rush makes any secondary look much better.

This defense would beat Allen tomorrow. Our olb rotation was too much.

- absolutely. We had a rookie LT, first time as a full time starter at LG, rookie C, veteran RG on a new team, and our only returning starter is the weakest link at RT. 4. Deontae Johnson looks like the light has come on
- He is the most talented (football talent, not physically), and been saying it since his rookie year. He has AB ability, just needs to unlock it. His issues last season seemed to stem from pressing due to really wanting to make a huge impact. This lead to concentration drops. He still needs to get comfortable with the mental aspect (still off with Ben on back shoulder reads, etc.), but man he can be a huge asset for us.
5. Cam Sutton had one hell of a debut as a starter
- He's just good. Kid wins with his brain. You can tell his preparation and homework help him be in position at all times. He is always around the ball. That shows great intelligence and instinct. Sutton likely starts outside for us for a good amount of time. I would imagine a good season gets him extended.
6. Bills OT's should be charged with sexual harassment for the way they constantly hugged our edges
- lol we are going to see that a lot this year. We have the best pass rusher in the league and two other guys who have shown that they are really good rushers as well. Add in our dominant DL and quality pass rush from the interior in Heyward and Tuitt, and its a nightmare for opposing OL. We will win games by just dominating the opposing OL (like we did with Buffalo)
7. TJ Watt is coming for that d.p.o.y trophy
- deserved it last year. He has to be an early favorite
8. Ben wasn't great, but he was gritty
- not his best game. With our defense, he wont need to be great often. Just needs to make sure he doesn't lose it for us and play big for us when we need it.
9. If I'm not mistaken, no other Steelers RB entered this game
- Until McFarland returns from injury, I would expect this to be the case.
10. Boswell was his usual self
- Yep. We pay him the big bucks to hit those kicks. Earned it.

We did a great job taking away running lanes from him. He was frustrated.

Can`t remember the last time our defense was dominant against a strong offense.

2 yrs ago the entire Jacksonville defense (a near championship caliber unit) pretty much quit and the best players on that unit forced their way out
