The Steelers seem really blind sided by this ruling by the NFL. They were preparing to go to Latrobe and St.Vincent College was preparing to host them. The school president was saying how this decision is a devastating blow to the Latrobe area businesses who still haven't recovered from last year's camp being cancelled.
This isn't a Pennsylvania ruling either as the last very few covid restrictions are being lifted on Monday. This was strictly a ruling by the NFL.

I will be curious to see the Entire NFL list of Training camp decisions. I wonder if all NFL training camps will be closed to the public?

I would love to hear the explanation for this. Doesn't seem to make any sense.

Someone from the NFL is a member here and wants the Steelers to struggle so his opinions can pan out.

How can you allow some teams and not others?

Ron Cook had Mark Kaboly from The Athletic on today, and He (Kaboly) said the NFL gave no reason whatsoever about prohibiting them from training at St. Vincent. I call BS. If you are going to deny them access to St. Vincent, you should at least have the decency to explain the reasoning behind the decision. The Steelers were one of the best teams last year at navigating the covid minefield. It has been said by Tomlin that they currently have one of the highest percentages of players that are vaccinated. Plus, I think the NFL owes them a solid after the way they bungled the second Ravens game. They were accommodating with their bye week when the Titans had their covid issues. I mean, what the hell?

Idk never understood the big deal with having it at St. Vincent anyway. More for the fans than anything.

They gave Kaboly no reason. Doesn't mean they didn't give the team a reason.

Doesn't mean they did. And, if they did tell the Steelers, why wouldn't they make it public knowledge? Pretty sure it has nothing to do with national defense.

The "big deal" is what hosting Steeler training camp does for the economy of that town. I'm sure the vets will be happy about it, they can stay at home instead of at the dorms. Anyway, many out of town fans make summer trips to Pittsburgh so they can go out to watch training camp. From what I understand, the Steelers are going to be limited on how many and what practices fans can attend. Look, I never went to Latrobe for it. Not that I wouldn't, but watching football in summer isn't my cup of tea. However, it is a big deal to tens of thousands of fans AND the fact that I personally feel the NFL is just being petty.

I think the fans are the problem at St. Vincent.

I do not know how they would be able to limit the number of people watching the practice since you do not need to be in the stands.

Something tells me there is going to be a ticket system for fans at this years training camp.

You may be on to something. The Steelers probably have the largest attendance of any team at training camp.

Steeler Fan Agreement, Section F, Subsection 4c, Right To Complain:
Fan will be granted exclusive rights to complaints about the NFL and its subsidiaries, regardless of logic, fact, or opinion, popular or otherwise.

Read the agreement, Duke. Stop being logical. It's beneath you.

I feel like this should be a bigger story. Yet I believe only Steelers reporter are covering it. Though I could be wrong.

Your sarcasm suggests that no explanation should be sufficient. I disagree. Why are KC, Dallas and others permitted to go to elsewhere for training camp?. Doesn't seem fair to me. The least the NFL and the NFLPA could do is supply a public explanation. If it was covid related, then what's the big deal?

I don’t know anything, but here’s my guess. The players do not don’t want to spend 3 weeks in dorms in cowtown. The Steelers would prefer to run camp close to home, like almost every other NFL does, but don’t want the bad PR. The local media doesn’t like humping their butts out to Latrobe, so they accept the decision. Everybody gets what they want, and no one gets the blame. It’s COVID!, it’s the NFLPA!, it’s Roger Godell!, it’s not me! Fans get screwed, but who cares about them. They get mad, but the sheep still spend. Flame away

It would be nice to have some sort of explanation behind these decisions rather than do what we say and don't question the means behind them.
