The elite WR'S??I got High School kids that can catch the balls he dropped tonight....Each year Wallace will get slower, when he gets closer to average speed his NFL career is over...Wallace won't practice his craft,he thinks he is Great already,he can't block,he won't fight for the ball and so on.....Anyway if he doesn't change his mind set he will be out of the NFL in the next 3 seasons....

I doubt he will be out of the NFL but if he doesn't change his mindset he will definitely not be a Steeler next season.

Thank you Mike for not signing, you just saved Pitts a boat load of $$$. Now lets spend it on the secondary!!

My whole thing about Wallace is IF people think he's playing for a contract he is REALLY not acting like it. I honestly believe the Rooney's think he's not worth all that money. I think by paying AB early they were basically saying that. My problem with Wallace is that he's seeming more and more to be what Tomlin, MIKE TOMLIN, called him. A "ONE TRICK PONY". In the Titans game he caught one for 82yds with a defender basically right in his face. But tonight we see him dropping EASY catches. I don't care if you wanna defend him overall. But HOW can you defend tonight? The bitter truth about this league is what have you done for me lately. Another thing I PERSONALLY don't like to see is when Wallace catches it and sorta will just give himself up before the contact. I just don't think he's gonna do like Hines and put his shoulder down and drill somebody. I know he's trying to protect himself but I'm just saying that I don't like to see that. I just don't think he's a powerful guy. I also don't think that he will fight for the ball but that's MOST receivers. If you wanna be a Wallace lover you should at LEAST preface it with "TONIGHT HE PLAYED LIKE CRAP" but I STILL wanna see him get paid. If you try and come on here and pump him up to people after what we just witnessed with the rest of America you have a tough sale to make.

I neither hate nor love Mike Wallace, but I have to say that his FA value went way down last night.

I wouldn't say that because the value he was reportedly looking for wasn't there to begin with. One of the knocks against him coming out of college was letting the ball into his pads and that was on display again last night.

As far as MW value going down, let's add some data to this argument:

In 2010 MW had 60 receptions for 1257 yds and 10 TDs
In 2011 MW had 72 recepts for 1193 and 8 TDs
If you project 2012 to 16 games MW is on pace for 77 rep 1059 yds and 11 TDs.

Exactly where is he losing FA value with his performance this year??

Yeah he drops balls, but he did last year, and so do a lot of other big $$ WRs. Annoying? Yes, Is it going to cost his as a FA? Probably not much.

Again, I think a lot of the reason behind the carping about MW here, is the belief that he will go elsewhere next year, and a desire to convince oneself that losing him won't be a big deal. Unfortunately, losing MW in 2013 will be a big deal.

My opinion hasn't changed much, but my opinion of him wasn't great to begin with. No matter how fast he is, that speed doesn't really matter much if he can't catch the easy ones, especially when it counts.

Also, if the offensive line and run game last night was not just an aberration, it should open up some plays down the field for Roethlisberger and Wallace. The offensive line was fired up and executing nearly perfectly last night.

I'm not sure that this was ever confirmed, but it was being reported that Mike Wallace was offered a 5 year, $50 million contract to re-sign with the Steelers in the off-season and he basically thumbed his nose at it. IF that is the case, he will RUE THE DAY he ever turned that kind of money down because I think he will continue to prove that he is basically a one dimensional WR. He has great speed which does enable him to get behind the secondary, but he also has below average hands, average route running ability, average to below average at YAC, doesn't wow you with his blocking, doesn't seem to fight for the ball in traffic, has to trap the ball against his body (or the ground) to make a catch, NEVER catches the ball at its highest point and would have a hard time making a lot of rosters if he were a 4.45 guy instead of a 4.25 guy. That's my scouting report which hasn't changed the last couple of years.

My opinion of him remains the same. Not sure what other post I wrote in, but I said he is not a clutch or a "go-to" type receiver. The way Holmes was on that last drive in the SB -- he was a goto guy. Wallace does not have the catching abilty to be that type of receiver. You can't thow it his way and expect him to go get it like you can with many other "go-to" receivers. Wallace could not have made the catch Holmes made in the SB. He needs the ball to be a nearly perfect pass and he catches it by trapping it to his body.

I would love to see Holmes back in a steelers uniform. He could make those tough catches, ran good routes, and he really stepped up his game against the ravens. He just couldn't stop smokin them tweeds. I thought by now Wallace would have developed his skills to where he could do all the things Holmes could do but have that blazing speed on top of it. Sadly I just don't see anything in Wallace other than speed. At this point I think the steelers made the right move in signing Brown.

I hope when the off-season hits it is a very humbling experience for Mike when he is only offered 1/3 the contract Antonio received. What a BUST he has proven to be this year. It is truly amazing what money can do to ones ability. He knows every blown play and dropped ball is going to cost him and he is no longer just playing the game, but thinking about the money every play and it will be his greatest downfall. Those that love the game and the money is just a highlight of it can get out there and do what they do best as they just don't think about it. It is by instinct and talent that gets them where they are, not by signing the "big contract".

I wouldn't drop balls and demand the Rooney's pay me like Larry Fitzgreald. I will not miss him next year. Had he come to camp he and Brown would have both got paid. Wallace would have got more than Brown too. Now I doubt he gets an offer let alone franchise tag next year

As with last season, I don't think projections amount to much.... if he disappears the same as he did last year.

I'm not with or against Wallace, but if the rumors were right and he was offered 5y/50m, I think he's got to be wishing he'd get such a lucrative offer again.

In Bens post game interview he said I didnt get on Mike for dropping those balls because nobody hates it more than they do: My advice to Ben is, you better start getting on him about those drops or your offense is going to be basicly playing short one wideout, we dont need him to just catch sideline quick screens, which he even dropped one of those too: In my opinion MW has totaly lost his concentration for some reason or another, and Tomlin needs to have heart to heart talk with him, and did you see tomlin give him THAT look after he dropped that TD in the endzone, so I do expect tomlin to be on his case this week and wallace had better get his head back in the game or he just might be sitting on the bench pretty soon...

Ok, that's fine, maybe he will stink the last 10 games. But the point I'm trying to make to those that believe he stinks right NOW, is that evidence for that belief does not exist in his performance the last 6 games. They're more/less the same as the last 2 years.

If Wallace had come to camp, had said he wanted more than anyting to be a lifelong Steelers because of his love for #86 and the world's greatest fans (but not agreed to a contract), and had exactly the same numbers this year, he wouldn't be getting 1/10 the criticism here that he's getting now. Yeah, people would be complaining about the drops, last night, but that would be written of as just a bad day.

MW will get a lucrative offer, barring serious injury. Somebody will pay his $50M/5yrs, of that I have no doubt. It may not be for the Steelers, but he won't have to be wishing he took last yrs offer.

Wallace is a great weapon to have, but i hope they dont break the bank for him. i would much rather see them spend that money on a top line CB.

i dont think theres even an arguement anymore on whether Brown is a better wr than Wallace is anymore. i would take my chances with Brown and Sanders as the starters.

people seem to forget that those 2 guys are pretty fast also. maybe not Wallace fast, but they can still stretch the field and they can actually catch the ball. all that speed doesnt do anyone much good if you cant catch.

if we let wallace go i would look for a fast wr /te that can block in space and be more a possesion receiver ( an hernandez type of guy )

If Wallace has a down year and Brown a monster year he will be lucky if he sniffs Browns contract.
