I much prefer Collinsworth over Simms. I thought he did a good job tonight.

Collinsworth is one of the most eloquent commentators out there. Much better than some of the other ex-player booth jockeys. He's a fan of old-school smash mouth football and he always seems to appreciate the AFC North battles.

I have stopped criticizing Collinsworth after he went off, and I mean he laid into the league and into the refs, when Heath Miller took that vicious shot to the head (this after Ben's nose was broken) in that Sunday night game in Baltimore in 2010. There was no flag on that hit, which was as vicious as any I have seen. And Collinsworth came in defense of the Steelers and our fans, who'd been arguing double standard.

Tim Benz just said on the post-game how Collinsworth goes out of his way to praise the Steelers and not sound anti-Steelers. Like I have said, I think Collingsworth calls a great game.

Man.. if you are getting mad at the announcers, just realize your team is playing ****ty football.

Imagine your in the booth and the Steelers are struggling- Wallace just dropped another, or Ike got his 4th pass interference call in a game- or the 20th straight penalty on the Steelers punt return. You want they guy to blow smoke up your ass and tell you that lineup is full of fricking Greek Gods out there?

I agree, I've never had a problem with him. Steve Young, Sapp, and Stephen A Smith are the only talking heads that get on my nerves. Oh and I almost forgot the two Stews, they're the worst.

My personal cant stand to hear a a word that comes out of his mouth talking head is Tim Hasselbeck. Career back-up lives off his brother's success and talks like he is the greatest thing in football since Paul Brown.

I personally don't mind Collinsworth. But the one thing I DO hate to hear are NON Steelers fans talking about the Steelers. Like when I go to work and hear people telling me what's wrong with this team when they can probably only name like 5 players or something. THAT is one of my pet peeves but I'm sure we all have a peeve or five. Just like when I hear commentators talk about how we're gonna be ok because we are the Steelers and we just magically have a good defense and I wanna jump through the tv and be like "SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UUUUUUUUUUP!" All they do is quote the stats on the sheet in front of them and we know they've not done the homework to see why we are REALLY ranked as high as we are.

That exchange was priceless, 'you'll from the south'? WTF!!

Collinsworth is a LOT better than what he was.
    He's gone from a '1' to a '3'.

I wish I could remember the name of the announcer doing the Patsy/Jest game.
One of the #1 announcers for AFC games.
Near the end of the game ( Patsies winning), the moron says, 'this will be one of the biggest upsets this weekend' (Pats favored by a bunch).
Then, as the game ends, he says, 'Jets will takeover 1st place'.

Someone slaps him, then he says, 'I mean the Patriots'.
Hope someone else seen this, to confirm, hilarious!!

Well I'm from TN and EAST TN at that! We are where the TRUE rednecks dwell! Nashville has too many of them dang migrant yankees to be considered the country. In my county we have THREE redlights and that's it! The most exciting event of the year is the tomato festival a county over. I love the south and I will defend our way of life to the death. I'm proud to be a southerner. We still live down here where you can shake hands with somebody and it means something. Where you can tell if somebody is telling the truth because they'll look you in the eye. Where if you need help you know you can count on the community to be there for you. I aint doggin' on you yanks but I'm like old John Denver when it comes to being a "country boy"! BTW Homestead that was JIM NANTZ! He's a stooge!

Jim Nance & Phil Simms did the game, I think Nance made the gaffes.

Thanks! Yep, Nantz, of all people!

Pittsburgh, used to be also about the handshake (yes, many still are).
For better, or worse, it's getting to be 'baristas', 'culinary refinement', 'contemporary culture', etc..
Yes, I'm living in the past, where the networks show scenes from the mills, and talk about blue collar.
The nieghborhood pizza joints and corner bars are declining. sigh

I know, progress..., Pgh needed it, I suppose.
Still better than most cities, as noted it's always in the top few (if not #1), on lists of most livable big cities.

They don't call it 'Pennsyltucky' for nothing! (Kentucky with a big city on each end) :hello:

I thought Collinsworth was okay, even though played for the Bengals he isn't biased, he calls it like he should. He knows a lot about football. Case in point last night when he said the Bengals were daring the Steelers to run Chris Rainey, because they were playing both saftey's in the middle. Then Boom, Rainey up the middle for the touchdown. Collinsworth knows what's going on.

I have no problem with Collingworth. I like his commentary in general and appreciate his insight.

I know Steeler fans hate him, but everytime I watch him do a Steeler gave he oozes with praise for the Steelers, Ben, Tomlin, the D everything. He DOES go out of his way not to sound anti-Steeler, he's a real pro.

But Steelers fans ***** about every announcer, they imagine that they are all rooting against the B&G. I guess it comes from year of listeing to Billy Hillgrove, Tunch and Edmund Nelson and thinking that these guys are neutral observers.

I also think Collinsworth is one of the better announcers out there. He does not come off as biased or anti-any team. Those who claim he does are going off something from several years ago or just hate him because he was a Bengal.

He is lightyears ahead of Simms and Aikman (both are absolutely terrible). Simms is particualrly terrible.

I found myself getting a bit annoyed at Al Michaels a few times last night for harping over some moronic trial things.

And I too laughed when Sanded suddenly cramped in the huddle...he deserved an award for that one.
