I don't know what your expectations were for this team prior to the draft. But, if you think they just needed a tweak here or there to put it all together, I'm afraid I've got some bad news for you. They are rebuilding, I don't care what their narrative is. As such, it doesn't really matter whether they address CB this year or next or even the year after.

I've been saying this for several years now. Steelers are no longer one of the elite teams in the AFC... not even close. Those teams are in KC and Buffalo. It will take several drafts and seasons to right the ship again. Too many holes and question marks on the roster at present.

If they were truly rebuilding they would have cut Ben before the roster bonus hit, along with cutting/trading Cam, Bince, Haden, Alualu, etc.

Instead, they ate into next year's cap space with voidable years and told us they were trying to win a championship.

They've taken such a mixed bag approach it's hard to put a finger on what exactly they're doing. It's not a rebuild, and it's not a last gasp "all in" season.

    Matters 2 me.:smiley1:
    I want Defense.
I need an Awesome Defense, not just a Good Defense, but that's Just Me, and my opinions.
A lot of people talk about missed opportunities in the Playoffs, but when Ben , and Offense was hitting on all cylinders...the D was giving up points at an alarming rate, and it's not like the D did us any favors the last Playoff game either. Totally different game if they just held once. JMO

I get the confusion, believe me. I honestly think they are doing Ben a solid more than anything. As such, the company line is going to be that they are all in to win now. How could that possibly be true given their needs and cap situation?

I said right after the playoff fiasco that they should have slashed and burned and started from the bottom up. They are apparently more concerned about remaining somewhat competitive while they reload than they are of ripping off the Band-Aid, stacking draft picks and clearing cap space. They might get to where they want to be by taking baby steps, but it's going to extend the amount of time until they are a legitimate threat to get to the AFC Championship game.

I'm with you. I love defense. The more nasty, mean and hard hitting, the better. My point is that all the needs they have weren't going to get addressed in this offseason. Unfortunately for those of us that love defensive football, the league is trending away from it and Pittsburgh's defense as currently constructed is very average. I hope they prove me wrong.

ben was on the books play him or cut him. nobody knew the cap was going to drop like it did so in a normal year it probably would have been handled a little differently.

Hard to disagree, but I do believe that they feel that they adopted the right draft strategy for success in 2021. They just had a different perspective on the players than some of us did. I would not have taken a RB in the 1st, especially with solid O linemen and corners available, but I think they feel that Harris was a bigger upgrade over what we have than a 1st round tackle or corner would have been. I disagree with them, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out that Harris materially improves the run game and Green turns out to be a solid center right away. What’s done is done, and I hope they’re right and I was wrong.
