Well thank goodness the MB lawyer showed up...

Sh!tty decision making at best. The laws violated here aren't that hard to follow FFS.

Can we please not blame the Cop here?

The cop pulls over a car for speeding. Inside the car are 3 guys smoking weed. Car reeks of marijuana. In the center console is an exposed 9mm, unregistered firearm, that the owner does not have a permit to carry. And the driver is driving on a suspended license from previous driving violations to boot.

Reading through some of these responses boggles my mind. WTF do you want the cop to do?

There are rules that every American citizen is expected to follow. If you choose not to follow those rules, and then get caught, that does NOT mean your rights were infringed upon.

I was just going by the charges and didn't read the circumstances.. After the board pointed those out.The Officer had every right for the stop and it was Laynes law breaking that lead to the charges.. I judge on a case by case basis.. Not all stops are in good faith and lawful and not all stops are racist and racial profiling..I have seen my share of both and everything in between..

So to set the record straight armed with more Info Layne was clearly being a Idiot ..

The Steelers need to recognize that nothing good happens in or near Cleveland

Second story I read put the time at 0120. Speeding, weed, outstanding warrant and a firearm in the console. Nope! Nothing wrong here!

I can say that now, but in my 20s probably not.
I'd probably be under the jail.
Also my saying we take a CB (for the last 4 months) in the 1st just inched a little higher

To be fair and not in any way defending the stupidity of Layne in this situation but a lot of these college players go from being BMC to small fry in the pros and dont realize that the college town's habits of looking the other way because of your talent kinda stops when you leave college.

I've told these story before but 3 top members of the UND men's hockey team including a current member of the Washington Capitals *cough* Oshie *cough * were arrested for being minors in a bar. Not a sports bar or bar and grill but a dive bar. The team Captain tried to bust them out of the squad car but when caught claimed he was just opening the door to tell them to call the coach right away. It was during a national championship ru so they couldn't afford to have 4 members of the team suspended. They three pled not guilty and the judge kicked it to probation and let the school handle it. School said team would handle it and no comment and it all just went away.

I remember when the Sandusky stuff first came out people on the board talking about how much the players at State College got away with. Scary what ppl will live with for sports.

Report said driving 30 MPH over speed limit. After stop was discovered he had a warrant for not responding/appearing for previous driving infraction. Gun and weed residue were in plain view according to police report.

Especially after 1 AM. My dad used to say at that time the bars start to close, and the legs that are open cost you more than the money in your wallet. Were you speaking from experience dad?

Almost reads like lyrics to a C&W song. But when you play a C&W song backwards - you get out of prison, get your job back, your dog back, your wife back, your money back............:guitarplayer:

Where do you live that a officer sends you home for driving on a suspended license (and speeding on top of that)? I have lived in a few states and have a few cops as friends. Thats a guarantee go to jail everywhere i know of.

That's why Artie Burns was stopped by Browns/Bengal fan cops and they bought him dinner and gave him a police escort back to the stadium.
