I don't know why there would be some huge market for Sutton, who couldn't establish himself as more than a fourth cornerback in four NFL seasons.

 

Every dollar counts this offseason, but they only save $1.1M if they cut him and pick up another $2.2M in dead money. I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze yet.

 

Plays everywhere - slot, outside, safety. Versatile jack of all trades, master of none. Hope we keep him.

I hope the Steelers retain his services, too, but I just don't see him getting some big offer given that every team is going to be more strapped for cash than usual.

 

atleast 2 will have to go, and it could be juju and dupree.

 

Both are an after thought at this point and will be elsewhere, and we move on...

I think Haden may be a move to FS type player, if so he could extend his NFL career ..Maybe even a dime back against the 4th. or 5th. WR option..So IMO he has more than 1 year , but I agree probably his last year facing the #1 WR..

 

You do know the Steelers already have a free safety.

I don't see how Williams keeps his job this year; last year their hands were tied with his cap money.

Haden is not going anywhere; still the only #1 CB we have on the team.

Steelers save 8.25million if they cut Nelson; they should be able to upgrade the position with that kind of money.

Layne has been a disaster every time he has seen the field as a CB; hopefully the Steelers can stop drafting CBs.

 

They will get it right this year when they take a DB in the 1st.

I’m guessing you weren’t around for his Isaac Redman predictions of 5 yards per carry. Or how Darius Hayward Bay was being Misused and was the key to us being successful on offense. Oh and don’t forget about how he went on and on about Darius Hayward Bey switching to play single high safety. The over the top predictions about Eli Rodgers. The most recent nonsense about Josh dobbs.

Actually I would rather run it as a Cover 1 , 2 Robber Defense .. It's a 4-2-5 really with 1 deep Safety 2 box Safeties and 2 press CB'S.. The 2 box Safeties get to play zones in the short to medium areas, their job is to be extra guys in zones that the QB doesn't expect to be there, this is why they are called Robbers as they have no set area and can cloud any zone they anticipate the QB looking towards..We actually ran this exact Defense in HS against 2 Teams about 75 % of the time we played those 2 twice a year and they loved the quick passing game and this D gave them a lot of trouble..

Of course you can start with the 2 Robbers in the box and they can drop into a deep zone 1 of the CB'S can drop deep as well and pass his flat to a LB so you can run Cover 1,2,3, or even Quarters if a Team is trying to send multiple guys deep.Like I said we ran it mostly as a Cover 1..

 

Well, if it worked in HS, then it should definitely work in the pros where DB's can't get looked off of routes or bite on pump fakes.
