She was built up as a star without building on her early success, seems she got distracted with the fame and didn't put in the work to improve as a tennis player .

Are you old enough to remember Laura Baugh, LPGA from the 70's? She came on the scene, never really did much, but played a round with Arnold Palmer and he liked her. He encouraged her to sign with his Agent and she became a media and advertising darling. Never won a tournament (to my knowledge), never went the easy 'sexy me' path, but still made bank. Sadly fell into the clutch's of alcohol, but at last report has been sober over 20 years. Also was smart enough to finish her education and that has been another road to her success later in life. I think I still have a crush in her, lol.

 

I remember her as well. She was a cutey. So you say you still have a crush "in" her. Freudian slip or are you just that lucky? Correct about her not taking the "sexy me" path, but I don't mind Paige Spiranac doing it, so I wouldn't have been opposed to Baugh doing it back then. But golf can't handle Paige doing it today. I can't imagine the fallout she would have gotten back then for embracing her sexuality on or around the links.
