Wishing him all the best in retirement. He had a great career, was a big personality in the locker room and will be missed but I think it was time to go.

Pity he never won the big one

Best wishes to Pouncey in his retirement. He was and is a great Steeler. I wish Super Bowl 45 could have gone differently so he could have gotten that ring.

Best wishes Pounce drafting a center really moved up in draft importance.
I feel that JC Hassanuer can fill in but drafting one higher will be a priority for sure

Sad day but glad he had a good career. 3rd best center in Steelers history.

I wonder if Ben will still want to come back. I had read that he wanted both Juju and Pouncey back for him to return.

I wonder if this already means Ben isn’t coming back, maybe that’s what Pouncey was waiting for to make it official, he always said he’d retired when Ben did. Ben was to meet with the Steelers this week to discuss coming back and his contract. Maybe they parted ways, Pouncey would know that.

Thanks for everything, Pouncey, you’re a great Steeler :steelflag:

Loved his toughness years ago. Would have been nice to see him with a Super Bowl ring. Best of luck to him and his brother.

Makes sense that the brothers would retire together

Good bye. Up until about 2 yrs ago, he was an asset. The last two years he hurt this team more than he helped and the ROI on his salary was terrible IMO.

Despite his horrible ending, he will have a gold jacket in Canton. For people who do not believe, he is on the All Decade Team and that usually warrants a place on the ballot. That said, how long will he wait should not be in question.

Look at how long Alan Faneca waited. He had a Super Bowl Ring to boot the same. I would imagine that Pouncey waits longer.

One final aspect I forgot. All this does is that Center is now a premium position in the upcoming draft. Three great ones to choose from in this class too!

You think Tackle or Center Rd 1? Usually the good tackles are gone by late first Rd

I know it's been mentioned beforehand, but I'm not so sure Ben is coming back. Pouncey, McDonald and there's been no news of a restructure.

Tackle and Center are the first two picks in the draft now surely?

Another aspect to this is that it frees up $8m after Vance already freeing up $5m. I think there is a better than 50/50 chance Ben retires now too. They were his closest friend on the team and he’ll be coming back to a depleted roster and a makeshift, or at least a new line, and a completely new offensive system. That’s nuts at his age, and will only end one way.

Love him... but thank God. I hope Ben follows him out the door. Time to move on.

I hope you're right about Ben departing. I think there is still dead money still tied to Vance and Pouncey that is still in play. Does anyone really think there will be a whole new offensive system if Ben comes back with RF's apprentice at the helm?

The $13m is after dead money is accounted for.

Canada was hardly Fictner’s apprentice, he has a completely different philosophy, but yeah I do think the changes will be less dramatic if Ben comes back. He is not going to go under center for anyone I don’t think.

Both brothers had a great career. Being a lineman in the trenches of an NFL team is a lot of extreme wear and tear on the body. Wishing them the best of health in their retirement.

I believe the meeting is today. Maybe he will just retire. His center is gone, Juju will not be back. Its time. No reason for him to play another year.

Just parroting at this point, but what does Ben have to come back for? He said he came back last season for Pouncey. Now Pouncey is gone. And do you think Ben wants to break in a new center at the end of his career? He literally has nothing to play for at this point. Congrats to the Pouncey bros for long, prosperous careers. And thanks for hopefully helping Ben out the door. Literally. He needs help. Get him a cane, a walker, support under his shoulder. The guy's knees are shot. Maybe instead of getting him a watch or a pen for his retirement, they can all chip in and get him a wheelchair.
