Actually looking at that, it says 2021, no way he won’t be here for this season but I think at the end of this season it will happen.

Looks that way given the fact that Tomlin was not extended. Well, I assume then that this is truly it. Here is hoping that the Steelers can get over the hump this time around.

Honestly I can see AR2 extending him again. Unless watching the SB shook something loose.

Not renew his contract. But really if you don't renew the contract isn't it really a nice way of saying your fired? I think so. But it saves face for Art II. He unfortunately will extend him I believe.

    This.

But hope you’re wrong on the last part, I’m ready for new leadership and a new era in Steelers football.

I believe you're right. Tomlin will coach the Steelers until he decides to retire from coaching and go the Cowher route.... Sports Analyst, which Tomlin will be very good at. I could see either NFL Network, ESPN, CBS or FOX paying Popcorn big bucks.

If the Steelers really cared about winning at all costs and nothing more than MT would have been fired right after the 2017 season if not beforehand. Bottom line is they just don't like to rock the boat and are fully satisfied with season ending positive revenue. This year was more challenging in that respect but I'm sure they still came out in the black from TV revenue alone. I'm not saying that I expect them to win the SuperBowl every season but if they were extremely committed to winning the very next Lombardi then they would make more drastic changes than just replacing coordinators every other season.

I think there's an element of truth to this. Look, I think Tomlin is a quality coach. I happen to think that some of his methods are not evolving with the times. For instance, the team took the easy way out in replacing their fired assistants. Any idiot would realize that the offensive line coach hiring is one of the most important positions to fill given how terrible the run game has been. So what do they do, interview a couple of people with parallel credentials to the guy they just fired then they hire his assistant, Adrian Klemm. If they really believe he's their guy, then fine. But it is a cause for skepticism among Steeler Nation that they either don't value their assistants or don't do their due diligence during the search and interview processes.

Honestly. I'm torn about Tomlin. That is all. LoL. No. Seriously. I was ready 2 move on from him, until the year Ben went down 4 the season. Not alot of coaches could have got an 8- 8 season out of that. It's way different if you plan 4 a player not 2 be there, compared 2 a major cog in the wheel just going down.

How do you know a lot of coaches could not have got an 8-8 season if they were here? I think many could have done better especially if these other coaches did not have the usual Tomlin meltdown at the end which, of course, happened. So, I can make a statement like you did without any way of proving it just like you did and have no way of proving it. I think MT is a very good coach but he surrounded himself with useful and at times, useless, idiots that didn't help him down the stretch of a long season. Nonetheless, good coaches run out of mojo or whatever made their tenure successful and that is the time for change. Its like we have this aging production dye we keep using (Ben, MY, KC) and its wearing out and needs renewed with new ideas and energy.

You are very correct. I can't prove it, but from what History has shown many times( go look it up)(or don't LOL) when a starting Qb, let alone a HOF Qb goes down its not very favorable outcome.

Minkah Fitzpatrick, TJ Watt and Bud Dupree had more to do with Steelers going .500 in 2019 than Tomlin.

Did something change from Rooney's presser a couple of weeks ago? In it he said Tomlin's would be around for awhile and they would be addressing his contract as this offseason progressed.

I thought 2021 was lining up to be a perfect scenario for changing out the old guard until that he dropped that line.

It feels like coaching staff decisions were made in order to keep maximum flexibility after this upcoming season.

The one who usually does, the GM. He might have let MT in on it but I believe it would have happened regardless.
