Do you think we win? My gut instinct is hell no. Mainly because Stewart was mistake prone. But the Pats pulled the miracle off. So who knows.

Yes. One of his best years, and one of our best teams.

Yes, because the Steelers are undefeated in games they never play.

We had a better defense than New England that year. And the ability to keep the Rams off the field slowing down the "greatest show on turf."

Ultimately, it would have came down to whether we got Kordell flashing greatness... or Kordell throwing worm burners and being inaccurate as hell.

    50/50 if we could win.

Believe me I really wish we would have won. That was the year I made it in Sports Illustrated. Was at a PEN/flyer game in Philly and SI was obviously taking a picture of a flyer player and there I am in the background with my co-worker friend who was a female. We had front row seats. Damn good thing I was not cheating on my wife. It was the SI edition right after SB and the patriots are the front cover.

My wife's nephew was in a Doctor office a month later and picked it up to page through and lo and behold noticed me in the background and stole the magazine for me. I still show people and always say that should be the Steelers on the cover.

By the way damn PENS lost in OT.

Would love to but I am not that smart with a computer. The girl I was with got us each our own copy. I still love goofing with it. I tell people I got in SI for my golfing and then I show the picture. All they see is I believe Rick Tocette of the Flyers but I say look close and then they laugh their ass off.

    :roflmao:

I would have liked our chances better in that game than had we reached the SB against the 49ers. Watching the Chargers get killed my friend turned to me and said, maybe you’re lucky the Steelers didn’t get here.

Maybe but I would have liked to have found out.

I remember at the time that this SB was "supposed" to be the battle of Pennsylvania. Then both Pittsburgh and Philly choked in their home stadiums.

I would rather create the hypothetical of Rachel Welch and me in our prime...never happened but always left me with a good feeling.

Kordell Stewart in a modern Chiefs, Ravens offense would have been badass.

I don’t know about SB 36, and how we’d have done, but TB has the refs in their pockets in this one.

It's pretty much 50/50 for any team.

I do think we would have won that game against the Rams that year. Our defense was lights out and Bettis would have loved to play with a chip on his shoulder in that game to show them how wrong they were about him. He did it once before in his first meeting with them, but to beat them in a Super Bowl and be MVP would have been so much sweeter!

2001 was one of my favorite seasons. Everything went wrong in the AFCCG. Had the Steelers beaten the Patriots, I do believe they would have beat the Rams. The Steelers defense was good enough to slow down the Rams offense. The Rams defense was pretty average IMO. I think the Steelers offense would have done enough to get the W.
