Greg Lloyd, a beast on the field who punished QB's and epitomized Steelers football, I miss these days of football. Its a shame he had that staph infection, it killed his career. He easily could have been a HOF LB. I loved it when he said he was going to knock Dan Marino out of the game, come Monday night, he did exactly that.

Whenever I see a heading that is just a name I fear it's bad news, happy to see its just a reminder of a great Steeler. Loved watching him terrorize QB's.

Glad others enjoy the nostalgia just as much as I do! My all time favorite LB, played with such a nasty streak!

They should have won a SB with him and Kirkland on that field!

I heard a Steelers say , he was helping a player from another team up , and Greg L. Slapped his hand away, and said we don't do that Sh!t around here. I Love it , and miss it.

    Hey JD86

Greg Lloyd was just freakin’ Awesome. I remember a clip when he was getting frustrated against the bungles and Coach Cowher said: “Rush the Quarterback”. And he did and he got to him. It is at the very beginning of a great video that I just found. The link is right below.

    Greg Lloyd Video Link

There are so many great segments in this video. One that really sticks out for me is near the very end of the video. I have stated this throughout my entire Steelers’ fandom. It is it is when Greg Lloyd states how it is a “Privilege” to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is so right!

It is such a shame that he did not win a championship while with us. Like it has been stated time and time again, you really need a Franchise Quarterback for that to happen. I really wish we had gotten Dan Marino. IMO, easily several more "Rings" with him in there. All those great Defenses but constantly coming up short because of mediocre QBs that came through Pittsburgh. Marino's and Lloyd's timelines align so that they would have played together for awhile. Man oh man, what could have been.

Marino entered the N.F.L. in 1983 the same year that our beloved Terry Bradshaw retired. This would have been so great in regards to timelines. Then Marino retired in 1999 so that would have left a five-year gap before we got Ben. During that five-year gap we had Kordell Stewart and Tommy Maddox. We could have won a Super Bowl with either of them; especially Kordell if he was "utilized" correctly IMO. And again, if we would have gotten Marino, it would have been so much better than the 1983-2004 wait from Terry to Ben.

Anyway, if you get a chance watch the video, and everyone else here. It is really good.

I got a VHS tape of NFLs greatest hits . Still . I don't even have a VCR anymore. I kept it cause Loyd was featured heavily in it.

What happened to guys like Greg Lloyd, Kevin Greene, Troy, Harrison, all the 70’s bad a$$es? Doesn’t seem like we have that type anymore, but we need them.

2 bad the NFL doesn't really allow these types of players ( guys that intimidate) anymore. I think James Harrison was the Last 4 us. You've seen how many times he got fined
