Still can't figure out why we released him and kept Pope. Saunders' upside is way higher than Pope's.

flame away if you want, but releasing him was beyond stupid, and I hope he embarrasses Pittsburgh next time we play them. Yeah, obviously with the username, I'm a bit partial to Saunders...oh well

i'm guessing that with all the injuries on the o-line, that we kept pope due to him being the only one close to lineman size if we have to go there

While I do I agree with SC that releasing him was a big mistake. I have to agree with Glenn here also, what "Steeler Fan" hope they get embarrassed bya player from the other team? Saunders probably wouldn't be in the situation he is had he not taken someone elses meds.

Is there anyone other than me who is more amazed by the fact that Weslye Saunders is 'verified' on Twitter than with his release from the Steelers and subsequent signing by the Colts.

Really who gives a flying ratsa** if that guy you are tweeting is really Weslye Saunders?

Ha! That's a funny observation. I don't even pay attention to that, but yeah...being 'verified' makes someone 'important'. :lolol:

I don't know much about Twitter, but what I do know I've mostly learned from the Howard Stern Show. And I know being verified is supposedly a big deal. I know on the show that many of the personalities on The HSS are not verified and getting verified is supposed to be a relatively tough ordeal and reserved for celebrities. Twitter won't verify just anyone. It seems surprising that a 2nd/3rd string TE for the Steelers is verified. I would figure the Twitter people would be like "Who? Weslye who? Why should we care if you are really Mr Saunders?"

I've read their FAQ's about verified accounts in the past, but I think it's a little bit of hogwash to discourage the general public from inundating them with requests to be verifiied. I suspect that PR firms and/or agents have a point of contact at Twitter to expedite getting their client verified. I'd be surprised if any Steelers player on Twitter isn't verified. Just checking a few real quick- Drew Butler? Verified. Baron Batch? Verified. Ryan Lee? Verified.

Yeah thats true and it makes sense.

Im sure the Steelers (or any other NFL club for that matter) want their players being verified to protect against any potential PR nightmare from some pimply faced high school malcontent impostor.
