Long story short, if people thought the NFL Draft was already a crapshoot, none of us have seen anything yet.

Last year was a solid draft without bringing prospects into the building. Sometimes the team falls in love with measurables or interviews, Edmunds and Burns recently, without giving more stock to what is on tape.

even with the changes, this is such a deep draft that we should have a strong class by default...……….. only an idiot could totally mess this up

One of the mysteries will be those who opted out this year. Those with superior skills and good tape from last year will likely hold good draft stock, but you could find some real steals in 3rd round and beyond.

Lets hope the Steelers scouting department and coaches have been pouring
over film like crazy and talking to people/ coaches acquaintance's of players they are interested in.

The Steelers BLETSO Team starts the assessment of NFL Talent for the next Draft by Mid July at the earliest. That said, this was when scouts were allowed or even near Campus. Thanks to COVID 19, I would imagine that the game tape aspect of scouting has been relatively the same.

It is the lack of player evaluation that gives me pause for concern.

To be fair, it's the same for 31 other teams.

I heard that personnel from teams probably won't be allowed at pro days, nothing is final yet though.

Heard a former GM during the week saying that the loss of the combine won’t matter as much as many think. It’s now a marketing / spectator event for fans as much as a useful recruitment exercise for teams, the players are not in pads and even the interviews are now almost meaningless as the candidates have been tutored on how to answer every conceivable question.

It’s a good way to get a like for like comparison of the physical measurables for each player but film study, scouting throughout the year and pro-days are all more important for the teams.

The combine was the best place to get the medicals on those players though.

I think these futures picks and practice squad players that were with the team a year or two will become even more important. They know what they have in these guys more then they will know about some of these draft picks. Also if there is not preseason and camp it will mean even more.

I know you guys don't buy into some of these guys like I do but we have used a lot of them over the years. Being in our system and under pro coaches and workouts and weight rooms as well as just getting direction from some of these vets means a great deal. Coyle and Walton were really good college tackles. They were limited coming from small programs but their time here has to help. I wouldn't count them out yet on our line. As we have seen in the past most of our line has come from these types of players.
