Sign of a good coach is that his assistants get poached for HC jobs, either at the NFL or college level.

Just look at Parcells (6 HCs), Reid (8 HCs), Dungy (3 HCs, including Tomlin), Belichick (7 HCs) or Gruden (4 HCs)

Then you look at Tomlin's coaching tree....zero of his assistants have been poached for HC jobs. And Munchak doesn't count because he was a HC before he ever worked under Tomlin.

A bit telling that none of Tomlin's assistants are ever in demand despite the team's consistent (regular season) success....

Is it Tomlin or Rooney? Dave Bryan of SteelersDepot was talking about how the Steelers pay their assistants less than anyone.

How is that relevant though? If anything, that would make a HC job even more appealing since the salary would be much higher...

Same conclusion as every other thread. TOMLIN is an overrated joke.

Where debate about Tomlin is concerned, there’s never a “conclusion.”

If he was a good XO coach somebody would take the job for a storied franchise and learn then get a promotion.

This proves what we already know. Tomlin isn't a good XO coach. He's a good motivator and players like to play for him but that's it.

The conclusion should have been that the concept of “coaching trees” is flawed, and the first line of your OP is suspect.

This was actually discussed earlier in the season, but Steelers were winning then so you wouldn’t have been posting.

Why is it flawed? Is it mere coincidence that some of the great coaches of all time have prodigious coaching trees?

Where was this motivation over the past 6 games? Players like playing for someone who'll let them do what they want and not hold them accountable. He's a buddy, not a boss.

A bit of friendly advise and I am not trying to insulting or a smart azz. Before starting a new thread, check prior threads to see if the subject has been brought up like 5 times in the last couple of weeks. My guess is that anything related to the current HC most definitely has.

How do you attract a proven OC or DC if they are paid minimum wage?
