Mike Tomlin will never have a "Short Leash" or "Hot Seat"

Just watched an interview with that offensive linemen Nance who never even met Mayfield before lining up in a playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers..

Any self-respecting Steelers fan worth their salt would not be a Tomlin supporter.

Steelers have won 3 playoff games in the last decade against Alex Smith, Matt Moore and AJ McCarron.

With the roster they’ve had and with a hall of fame quarterback at the helm.

Anyone that supports Tomlin is eating paint chips by the bucket full.

Even if it was true (which I don’t think it is) it’s moot. This joke of a head coach that likes to shadow box tv cameras should’ve been fired 6 years ago.

Rooney: "Mike's done a great job of not blowing any fourth quarter leads in the playoffs the past five seasons."

The minority owners gave AR2 an earful after the Jacksonville playoff debacle about dumping Tomlin. You can bet they're giving him an even bigger one this time. Still won't mean anything though because AR2 only cares about the regular season.

He always get a pass ...it's always somebody else fault. Do you realize the last 3 playoff games we got crushed?? Patriots, Jaguars, & Browns destroyed us ...woefully unprepared again when it mattered most ...what is gonna be done about it??

I've said in other Posts this issue goes straight to the top. Art is simply not as invested in this team as his father and grandfather were. Its simply a business that he inherited. There are many things that point to this and prove it. Business is good so your not going to see any change being mandated from Above. The GM is one foot in and one foot out so he's not going to make a change or suggest any either. Sadly this organization is stuck in lame duck auto pilot mode right now.

Good argument that we have had minimal success under Tomlin`s leadership. Great head coaches are hard to find. However, there are a whole lot of things in the mix that determine success including things like bad luck, injuries, etc. Some of it is coaching for sure. We had a couple 8-8 years when Ben hated the OC. One year just before the playoffs, Bell got injured and he was key to the offense at that time. One year there was Brown getting concussed out of the playoffs.

I think it is mostly about the players you got on the field, but an elite head coach can make a measurable difference. I see none out there for the taking and we ain`t ever firing Tomlin for mediocre performance in the playoffs.

My dude. This has been discussed ad nauseam in other threads.

However, please give him halfway competent assistants. They were at their best when they had Haley and Munchak (especially Munch). This job is hard and you cannot do it with Butler and Fichtner as your top aids. They were promoted internally because they knew the Steeler way, and that has showed itself to be completely dumb

Mike Tomlin is part of the blame for sure. No question. Inexcusable losses. He also had good assistants in 2017 (Haley, Munch, Richard Mann) but that loss was on the defense where they had:
Joey Porter, Lake, Butler AND attrition

But if the guy has no desire to bring in new people wth are you supposed to do? You have to have an eye for how to build a staff. If the front office has to tell the HC hey you should replace this guy, this guy and that guy then why is that person a HC? You shouldn't have to spoon feed him on decisions like that. If you don't have the balls to do that then get out.

You see none out there for the taking because we don't work in the NFL. Not our job to identify the candidates but to say there are none is just a poor excuse.

Tomlin wouldn’t have that great record without Ben. It’s the QB that drives a team more than the coach. Bill Billecheat has reverted back to his Cleveland form without Brady. Holmgren didn’t do much without great QB. Remember Jim Cauldwell who went almost undefeated with Payton Manning at the helm... his team went 0-16 in Detroit. Tomlin did well to go 8-8 last year, but during playoffs, he gets exposed. His team reflect his ‘no attention to detail’ persona.

What i find ironic is that the Rooneys made a lot of their money through gambling enterprises. Yet as an NFL franchise, they are the most risk adverse by far in the league.

They also raised a stink when Tomlin was extended in 2019. Makes no matter though (which might no be a bad thing in most cases).

Thee guilty look. From where did this picture come? Well, I can give you a hint, not a most wanted poster. Unwanted, maybe. Perhaps he should do what all excellent managers do, delegate responsibility but not blame.

He doesn't fix problems either. At some point stop falling on your sword and stop making the same damn mistakes.
