I told my son that Ben should have just kicked the ball thru the other side of the endzone. 2 points there would have been better than the 7 that Pouncey gift wrapped for the Browns.

That was actually used in the highlights from the Jaguars playoff game.

And how many opening drives were killed due to Ben’s terrible deep throws. The man couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn

Sadly they need to give ultimatums to Ben. Either take a pay cut, retire or get cut. No way can we pay him $41 million at this point in his career, especially with the cap dropping. We can’t afford to sacrifice our young players to keep him around another season. Cut Pouncey and let Haden and Bud go. With the lower cap, there should be some quality free agents available that will have to take pay cuts to stay in the game. That can stop gap us until we can draft replacements.

I still think we’re a better team with Ben than without him but not unless we pay him a mid-range QB salary.

As for coaches, Tomlin isn’t going anywhere but I think it’s time for a change to turn the page. Fichner should definitely be gone. I can live with giving Butler more rope.

Seriously? That’s what a general manager does. Why is it so hard for y’all to wrap your heads around such a simple concept.

The best possible outcome -- what about trying to trade Tomlin? Back in the early 00's the Raiders traded Gruden to the Bucs for 2 1st rounders and a 2nd rounder. I don't think Tomlin would be worth such an incredible return, but there are teams out there that would LOVE to hire Tomlin. Houston, Jets, LAC, etc.

I would think if this is an option, they should consider it. Unfortunately I don't see it happening.

Such a trade would allow for a very quick rebuild.

The more the media talked about how much the Browns were suffering, the more I thought the Steelers would lose.

I'm still confident the Browns will **** it up next year.

Fire Tomlin and get Robert Saleh! The D coordinator from the 49ers. He's the next big thing.

There will be no major changes to the coaching staff. They will not cut Ben either, they'll let him finish out his last year. They will let most of the free agents leave to get under the cap. Next year will be a lost year, maybe 4-12 at best.

There is no taking a pay cut. A large portion of his cap hit is from kicking the fan down the road by reworking his contract. He’s owed what he’s owed and the Steelers will feel the pain either way. Personally I would rather tear the bandaid off and see what Rudolph can do with a full training camp and preseason with the 1’s.

Tomlin is heavily involved in the draft, if you don't think so, then he's nothing but a figurehead quote machine and cheerleader.

Good. Rooney needs to be embarrassed.

Tomlin has now coached 15 seasons and has playoff wins in only 4: 2008, 2010, 2015, 2015

No one is saying he isn't. It's a group effort. But he relies heavily on scouting reports and analytics (just like every other coach) that are compiled by the GM and the scouts hired by the GM (unless the coach happens to be both, which Tomlin is not).

Just to play devils advocate. Each team has 37.5% chance(on paper) of making it to the playoffs. That was until they did this 7 team bs this year.

Your chances of winning that game is 50%. Therefore, every team has about a 17% chance of winning at least one playoff game each year.

Tomlin has been the coach for 14 seasons. He's made it to the playoffs 9 times. That's 64% of the time. Almost double the statistical probability.

And he has won at least one playoff game in 4 seasons. That's 28.5% of the time. 60% higher than the statistical probability.

Therefore, Tomlin is 62% better than your average coach. Not too bad.

The Steelers drafted the only 2 players in the NFL to come out of U of Maryland in 2020. U of Maryland, where Tomlin's son plays football. That doesn't happen due to scouting and analytics.

He doesn’t have the ability to draft who he wants without agreement from the GM.
