Tomlin for several years had the #1 running back and the #1 receiver with a franchise QB, and recently had the #1 defense and some good, young, talented receivers, and has few playoffs wins to show for it. Consistently underperforming to lesser teams. I somewhat blame his coordinators, who have been pretty awful, but he has done little to address this. Except for Ben and a few others, the players have changed, but the performance has been the consistent - moments of brilliance (mainly due to talented players), then frequently laying an egg.

Time to get on with his life's work.

Finchtner is not an offensive coordinator. He's not a QB coach either, but somehow he has remained a fixture on this team throughout the years because he's friends with both Tomlin and Ben. Same with Butler. Enough with this promoting from within crap! It worked well for Cowher with Mularkey and Whisenhunt but it's an abject failure for Tomlin.

I'm just annoyed that the people upstairs cannot see this and are perfectly content to waste these great players' careers and the fans' time.

I would bet my house Mike Tomlin is coming back with no issue. And Big Ben plays one more year. We are ****ed. There is nothing left with a Mike Tomlin run football team. He has nothing to offer. They have had every scenario the last decade, he will not improve.

I'm not sure it was Juju's antics that caused the turnovers...

I'm utterly disappointed. But as many have said, the decline in the team after 11-0 was visible for all to see.

Make no mistake, we should have beaten the Browns.

But reflecting on it, there were no surprises in why we lost:

    - The bad snap by Pouncey - not a surprise on his past record
    - Inability to convert on 3rd and short
    - Drops by receivers
    - Lack of accuracy and consequent interceptions from Ben
    - Appalling playcalling from Fichtner
    - Lack of imagination from Butler
    - Reduced pass rush
    - Dubious decisions - not challenging a Browns catch early on; going for 2 rather than the XP early on; and the moment we essentially lost the game, not going for it on 4th when we punted in the 4th.

I'm convinced the rooneys would rather lose with Tomlin than win with someone else. Once again we get burned coming out of the gate. Periods 2 3 and 4 they out score the Browns. How does a prepared team give up 28 points so quickly? Does Tomlin have no say who the coaches are on the team? Let's stop beating around the bush this happens almost every year we get to the playoffs. If Tomlin was a boxing trainer, he would have his fighter going into the ring cold. He needs to be held accountable for team prep , coach selection, and more. I am tired of this year after year. Get rid of Tomlin and try to keep only the guys that bust their asses every game. I would rather have a couple lean years, than getting bounced early in the playoffs every time. Get a new crew in and go in a new direction. We went through a decade of lean years in the 80s several years won't be as bad.

Agree with every single thing you said. I would like to add my top 5 wish list of players/coaches that need to go:

    1) Ben R. - old and washed up and way too many issues taking care of the ball

    2) Terrell Edmunds - guy has had one good game his whole career here.

    3) A. Villanueva - easy beat for any rusher off the edge who is fast and can get under with a upward swoop move...plus not very effective in the run game.

    4) juju- hate to say it or see it. as talented and important of a possession receiver he is hopefully a much more humble James Washington can take his place. If not juju then Pouncey would be here.

    5) Randy Fichtner - this is a no brainer and if he's back im going to have a real hard time watching this team play next year. I can only imagine the only reason for bringing him back is that they have every intention of tanking next season.

Things that really irked me tonight:

    1) not going for the 4th and 1 in the fourth quarter. This more now then ever was a glaringly bad call.

    2) a defense that didn't show up at all for the most part. No sacks, no turnovers, and bad tackling all around. Defensive line should have better against the run and been able to generate more pressure against a makeshift offensive libe. Continuously having Spillane stuck in mismatches with Landry. It became downright aggravating.

    3) Special Teams once again brought nothing to the table.

Giving up 28 pts. in the 1st quarter is hard to swallow & even harder to come back from.
No complaints, Steelers are just like every other team in the NFL. Capable of beating themselves or getting beat by better prepared, more fired up opponents.
I didn't enjoy how we finished but liked how we started. 2021 season can't get here soon enough. Save that winning run for the end next time Tomlin. Keep punching Ben, your still needed until someone steps up. Find a running game Rooney.

    :drinks:

Are we the only team in the NFL that is incapable of getting rid of a HC like most other teams? Team needs an enema and all coaches need to clear out. Bringing in need coaches with keeping MT makes no sense whatsoever as he was supposedly in charge and approving what his assistants were doing. I guess not. Most teams when the fire their HC had poor records because their players played like crap. Otherwise they would have won and there is no reason to change leadership. Can you really trust this team again after this year and starting off 11-0? Pitiful.

I can’t even make fun. At least the cowboys have hope. They are stacking draft capital while we are wasting it fooling ourselves in a postseason run.

    Juerry Jones is hope? :roflmao:
No, they need the next J. Johnson.

    We have a 1st round T. Romo impersonator & a Switzer clone but not a J. Jones.

I agree 100% on everything you said man. It definitely has come to the end for Big Ben and others on the Steelers team. Its time for a change for sure starting by trading or releasing some aging veterans. Not resigning anyone besides Sutton, Hilton and I think that's it. Total overhaul time... Hate to do it but you have to it eventually sometime. That goes for the coaching staff and the players. Looking into the draft there are alot of needs to this point. I know one position change that should be done is to move Edmunds to Linebacker like his brother. Try to find a safety in free agency or the draft.

Its possible I am a terrible fan...but I had a bad feeling before this game and shut it off as soon as Pouncey snapped the ball into the stands on the first play. Bring on hockey.
