No way do I cut him yet.....Yes its stupid of monumental proportions......but kids do stupid things....He was not going to dress this year...let the legal system go to work and see how hard he is hit.

To cut him is just cutting off your nose to spite your face.....He may never do another bad thing in his life....Stand with your family until they are not worth standing with anymore....One really bad decision while being horribly impaired should not cost the Steelers. It won't cost Ta'amu in the NFL's eyes....he will go to court, he may go to jail...he will come out and some team will sign him and he will have a 8-10 year career.....might as well be with us.

Also...on the Burfict front...he is EASILY out performing every single one of our draft picks currently......No way do you take a Beachum, Frederick, Paulson over Burfict....on potential alone....let alone when LB was at a position of need.

Cutting Ta'amu hurts the Steelers more than it helps them.

I get what you're saying but if they cut Saunders they will darn sure cut this guy. The Steelers have had enough negative press the last couple of years.

The negative press was all BEN....and all BS at the end of the day.....but you are probably right......but I will say this.....the times they are a changing....and the Steelers might be the most successful NFL franchise in the NFL with 6 trophies in the case....but they need to tweak their ways or they will waste the final years of Bens career....and Ben and Bradshaw don't grow on trees.....

They won't cut Ta'amu if they think he is a future probowler, plus they will try to help him first and give him a chance. Holmes already was on his last strike when he got caught.

Like I said in another post, Saunders first and second strike may have came in college and they brought him in on a one strike and your out basis, plus he might not have hit it off with coaching. Ta'amu might have a great relationship with the coaching staff?

Felony charges and reading the reports say he's gone. The team has programs to get you home after drinking. You have enough money to get a cab! I have no sympathy for these guys making 6 or 7 figures over the guys barely making ends meet worrying about the $25-$50 bucks to get home.

This crap is really starting to piss me off. You are given the opportunity of a lifetime and you blow on some stupid ass DUI and about 50 million other things I don't even feel like mentioning. Do we need to start babysitting these grown ass men who aren't able to act like they have ONE shred of common sense? WTF was he thinking? Well guess what folks, we had a great draft but several have been seriously injured and this IDIOT just made a complete ass out of himself in front of anyone and everyone, and for what? Is this guy clinically ill that he would do something so damn stupid. Do we need to give these guys curfews or something so that they can't do something so assbackwards? Rant over. Goodnight.

I think he's done. Rooney's will want to save face not only in front of the NFL brass, but also in the city of Pittsburgh. This guy injured someone else and caused a whole lot of grief for the cops, I don't think the Rooney's will want to keep him around the city. I was really looking fwd to what this guy could bring to the table.

Don't get what Tomlin has to do with any of this. It's not training camp; these guys are free to do as they please and rightfully so.

I don't know if they can afford to cut him, this draft is shaping up to be a colossal waste. DD on IR, Adams not having any impact, Spence not doing much and then there's Taamu who we might lose all together. You can't have that poor a draft class, it will kill you. We have to hope some of these guys actually turn into something. I think you have to give Taamu another chance, if he fails again then cut him.

Oh yeah, it could be a WHOLE lot worse. That could have been Heath Miller.[/quote:30qzu6l3]
:lolol: No, it couldn't have. Just part of what makes Heath Miller so great.

yes but decastro and spence will be abck next season and seems good players ,i knew it that adams would have need a year to improve (suppose the coaching staff is able to coach his talent) , i agree i will keep taamu if the sentence is not too long . we can have all this draft ready for the next season plus the new one , we just have to suffer this year

I'm glad you're with me! I wish they'd put me and you in charge for about a week and we'd have these knotheads whipped in to shape! I'm not a big fan of the Panthers owner for the trouble he caused during the Bargaining. However, I did like the way he talked to Cam Newton when he drafted him. He said "if you're gonna play here and be the face of this franchise you're not gonna go out and get a bunch of tattoos and stuff like that". I like that mindset and I wouldn't mind if the Rooney's said the same thing to our guys. When you get right down to it the Rooney's are running a family business basically and they oughtta have the right to impose as many restrictions as they feel necessary to maintain the integrity of their brand name. I don't think these new guys coming in have a clue about what the black and gold really mean and the legacy it entails. Ta'Amu needs to realize that his actions not only make him look bad but they also tarnish the black and gold and THAT'S the real problem!

There's no reason to think any of those guys are busts as players. Spence showed some potential before getting hurt. So did DeCastro, and there's still no reason to think he won't be the best guard in the league in a couple of years. Adams was a project all along and we knew that. Still no reason to think he won't pan out. Rainey will outperform his 5th round status in time.

This draft is mostly a year 1 bust, but that's the case all the time anyway. It's still a good draft class, with bad luck. Of course, Ta'amu is a case of bad luck for us, but not for him. He deserves what he gets.

I didn't mean to imply I was labeling these guys as busts, just that so far between injuries and lack luster play it hasn't been good. I think since you don't know what we have in these guys yet that you need to play the odds and keep Taamu around. If you cut him right now, it's one guy who definitely will have been zero help from the draft and then what happens if one or more of the other guys never materialize? I say give him another chance.

    THIS.

Yes it sucks...yes Ta'amu will be in some serious trouble....but it makes no sense to cut him due to your MORAL CODE....watch him go to jail...watch him get out...and watch another team give the kid a chance to become a 8 to 10 year solid NFL Pro.

Ray Lewis seemed to rebound ok.

Even if Decastro and Adams become the studs we all hope they do.....Losing both Spence and Ta'amu will destroy the team for another 2 years as they have to be replaced (Spence IMO was not going to be much more than a backup anyway....and that was without the injury that could threaten his career)

I think Decastro, Adams, and Rainey will all be around for awhile...Paulson is Tomlins new Sly....and will be gone....Beachum is just a younger Essex....This draft had lots of risk and potential at the top 4 rounds.

The window will slam shut the second Ben retires....so you better put as many good players around him as you can now.

I haven't decided about what I would do if I was the Steelers, between giving him another chance or not. I like that we try to avoid trouble makers mostly. We are a pretty clean team. I know we're not spotless like some fans say. But there's a big difference between not cutting the DPOY after slapping his girlfriend and routinely drafting criminals, or signing them as FAs, like a lot of teams. It's different when they're already on your team when the crap starts, as opposed to seeking them out because you can get them for a cheaper price. However, this is just SO big... Regardless of what I want, I think that they will cut him, mostly based on the fact that I think he's going to jail, and not for a short amount of time.

I don't know if you have kids or not. But what I can say is this. If my kid had been on the street where he was driving like that. If my kid had been in one of the MULTIPLE cars he rammed in to I wouldn't be caring about his NFL career. A guy like that is a danger to innocent people in his community and I don't care if it's Joe Greene NO player is worth keeping on your roster when he has clearly been shown as a danger to innocent people. This is bigger than a football team. I hope the Rooney's see it my way. I think it would be a bad representation of Steeler Nation for us to selfishly hope this guy sticks around after the black eye he put on us just because he MIGHT increase our chances to win a trophy which in the grand scheme of things really means nothing. Suppose we do keep him and next time he doesn't just INJURE someone but he does even worse. How would we feel about that even if he WAS helping us to win games. We don't need to miss the forest for the trees here. That's just my opinion and I'm sure many will disagree but that's just the way I see this.

fortunately he didn't injuried anybody , but if you cut him ,he could be do the same thing in another place , what about if we put in the program and we save his life and the life of the community ,and later have a nice carrer with us :hmmm:

No its not...it is COMPLETELY a football matter......Its the Police job to stop him...its the legal system job to punish him...its the Steelers job to field the best team if can field.

Again...under your code....Ray Lewis should have been cut from the Ravens...and Ben probably cut from the Steelers...... A 22 year old kid messed up....it happens....this was a HUGE MISTAKE...but a mistake all the same.........I have never done drugs....should I be ashamed everytime a POT USER is drafted by the Steelers.

He has nothing like this in his background....Ta'amu will get another shot with some team in the future....after the law is done with him.......you assume next time he will really hurt someone....What if next time he becomes the Reverend Ta'amu ala Reverend Reggie White? People can turn themselves around for the better if given a chance.

You asked me what I would think if it was my kids in that car he hit...I ask you what if it was your kid being arrested for doing it? Would you ban him from your home? Tell him he is an embarrassment to the family and to never come back....or would you try to help him to overcome this huge self made obstacle in his life? Sure its apples and oranges....but I don't think you would condemn him the same way....

If I am the Steelers...my job is to win football games over EVERYTHING ELSE!......The only people who ever even mention the Ray Lewis murder trials, and Ben Rapes.....are rivals who want to stir the pot.......4 years from now....It will be a foot note on wiki....and no one will be talking about it.....if he is even still in the league by then.

I read that he DID injure someone. I read that he sent a lady to the hospital. Did that turn out to be wrong? It's not the Rooney's responsiblity to rehabilitate this guy. They gave him a chance and obviously he didn't appreciate it. I hope they throw the book at his thug butt and put him in a cage where he obviously belongs.

Well depends on how they really feel about Mclendon.... If Mclendon is a starter in their eyes then maybe Ta'amu does get cut. I don't think it would be hard to find a back up nose tackle.

He did injure people. .196 while more than twice the legal limit doesn't really seem high enough for all that he did. What I'm trying to say I guess is that it's not like he was so wasted he didn't know what he was doing. Atleast that how it seems to me. he should have had enough sense to atleast stop the bs the first time they tried to catch him. I say cut him. He had his chance and blew it. Being a Pittsburgh Steeler should really mean something to these rookies.
