I keep hearing about how great QB'ing is in the modern era, but I don't remember the 70s Steelers playing this many tomato cans.

Since the last Super Bowl appearance in the 2010 season:

    2017: Blake Bortles (L)
2016: Matt Moore (W), Alex Smith (W), Tom Brady (L)
    2015: AJ McCarron (W), Peyton Manning (L)
    2014: Joe Flacco (L)

I know McCarron and Moore were replacing injured starters, but those guys were Andy Dalton and Ryan Tannehill, not Ken Anderson and Dan Marino.

Rounding out the rest of the decade:

    2011: Tim Tebow (L)
2010: Joe Flacco (W), Mark Sanchez (W), Aaron Rodgers (L)

0-2 vs. all time greats, 0-2 vs. all time turds, 0-1 vs. all time great playing like a turd, 2-0 vs backups, 3-1 vs. meh.

Mayfield currently falls into the "meh" category, IMO.

Hey you only play who they put in front of you, look at the Super Bowl runs the won the last 2, not like it was littered with uber talent that they always beat.

    2005- Playoffs
Carson Palmer-One play out then Jon Kitna
Don't forget Steelers lost to the Bengals at Heinz Field that year to Palmer, he was playing really well that year

Then we got Manning and the Colts
That was big knock off. Good QB, but Manning's playoff record was terrible, especially at the time, he lost to Tom Brady like how many times and beat him like once in the playoffs

    Then Jake Plummer and Broncos
Jake not bad but no HOF QB that is for dang sure

    Then Matt Hasselbeck
Not bad in his own right but no HOF once again.

    2008
    Divisional Round
    Chargers
Phillip Rivers- Borderline HOF QB, good QB they took down, even though only 4 years into his career at point

    AFC Championship
    Ravens
Joe Flacco-Rookie Joe Flacco, Flacco ended up costing them but he played solid for a lot of the game for a Rookie against our great defense

    Super Bowl
Kurt Warner- Good QB, HOF QB, but was getting older, but he played good other than bad throw on the INT to Harrison.

But not like your always playing against awesome QB"s every round.

Have the Steelers lost to some turds yes, did they get bounced out by good QB yes Tom Brady several times 2001,2004,2016
Those were Bill Cowher and Tomlin teams.

It’s one team playing another team. The QBs don’t play each other. They’re not even on the field at the same time.

Some of those games, the Steelers were hit by injuries and suited up a bunch of terrible RBs and WRs. Last trip the defense was still adjusting from losing Ryan Shazier.

Could the team have played better in each of those losses? Sure. Did we expect them to win before taking the field? Absolutely. Do we want them to win this week? 100%.

I’ll still take all those meaningful games over what the Browns, Jets, and Lions (and more) fans have had to endure.

Keep in mind for the 2014 playoffs and the 2015 playoffs, Le'Veon Bell was injured and never played. Maybe Steelers beat the Ravens in the Wildcard game with Le'Veon, and not only was Le'Veon not available in the 2015 Divisional Round against the Broncos, but so was Antonio Brown. He got hurt the week before in the Wildcard game to the Bengals. So with Le'Veon and Antonio healthy against the Broncos, maybe Steelers win that game also.

Also lost DeAngelo Williams just earlier and were on our 3 string back , that for some reason....I didn't even know who he was. As 4 Brown...not only did we lose a Wr, he was out Punt returner at that time....of course I'm talking about the Broncos playoff game. I honestly believe that year...was our year...if not 4 the offensive injuries leading 2 that game. Then the Broncos turn around and win the SB that year

I don’t criticize Tomlin often, but here it goes. He did not manage the snaps that his players played very well either of those years and even TJ’s rookie year. Give Blount some carries here and there and we have him for the playoffs. Spell TJ during his rookie season and the JH92 sees some action. The lack of rest wore these players down and perhaps made them susceptible to injury. A few less carries by Bell and maybe he is still part of the team.

Watt definitely comes off the field more now than he did his rookie season.
