In my experience there has only been one QB drafted in the last dozen or so years that has had an immediate positive impact on his team from day 1 and that was Luck(injuries and poor oline ruined him)There have been a couple of others that developed from pre-draft talent into bona-fide franchise QB's like Mahomes and Watson but a lot of these top 10 QB's that get drafted every year are just not worth it. I'd hate to be a scout from any team because that is too much pressure to find diamonds among the huge piles of coal.

But was he rated in the top twenty picks? Even with his phenomenal season though it wasn't enough to save his coaches job hopefully the new staff doesn't try to reinvent the wheel with him.

He was rated top 20 by many speculative sites... Eventually landing top 10. I'm a ducks fan and did not see him making the jump to the bigs as he did. I thought mariota was a better QB which he might just be but he don't have the moxie Herbert has displayed. I said Herbert's last 2 seasons (yes he was injured with the busted clavicle) that I did not believe he was as highly touted a pick as was being projected. I thought again mariota was a sure thing. Not to say Herbert wasn't damn good but they both came out of the same school albeit with different HC's however Helfrich tried to emulate Chip and now Mario to a lesser degree the same though he has put work into the detail of what O was missing under the prior two's tutelage.

For as offense minded as the Ducks are, they really limited Herbert and to an extent Mariota's skill set due to their philosophy as such. In retrospect, Herbert has all the tools as did Mariota... But Herbert has a bit more on the moxie side of things and grit matters. Will be interesting to see what a year of tape on Herbert brings especially with a new staff due to the firing and what the Raiders do with MM. Both can play balls out but systems wreck these sorts of things.

Austin Jackson, Penei Sewell and Robert Hunt as a unit?! My goodness at that potential. Say hello to a Top Five Offensive Line in the blink of an eye!!

Penei is that special. Nearly 2000+ snaps and only one sack?!?!

Tua is the perfect example of a Bama QB playing with elite talent vs teams in College that were not close in talent level excelling. Now that he’s in the NFL and the playing field is even all his flaws are exposed. Matt Leinhert 2.0

The PFF guys are all over it, mostly because they have the 3rd pick. If Fields falls, it would be hard to pass him up.

Nobody said that in April. Most thought Herbert was overdrafted.

Also, before we anoint him, let's remember Carson Wentz, RGIII, Mayfield, and other QBs with early success who faded over time.

Who's "they"? No way Miami gives up on Tua, they have so many high draft picks and will look to bolster their OL, and also give Tua some real weapons to work with.

This. Tua is a winner and very talented QB. He went 6-3 with no weapons and weak oline. Parker is good but is hurt all the time.

Tua’s other good trait, up until the Bills game anyway, is he plays mistake free football.

"They" are the ones who speculate on craziness like this and then post/report on it as if it might actually happen.

Yeah, Tua had THE best wr corps that I've ever seen for his whole time at Bama. Not to mention Jacobs and Harris running the rock with a ridiculous OL.

I never thought Tua elevated that team. He also didn't detract. He did what he needed to do, but no more.

Can you imagine what Burrow would've done with that team?

Burrow had a better team at LSU.

What's your point? If Tua played for LSU he would've thrown for over 5000 yds? You really believe that?

And Tua had, four 1st round wr's his last year. Ruggs, Jeudy, Waddle, and Smith. Even though LSU was also loaded, your defense of Tua's results by claiming that Burrow had the better team, probably isn't as ironclad a defense as you might think.

Yeah, I'd love to get Sewell here. Maybe the night before the draft, someone will post a video of him smoking weed inside a gas mask so that he falls to us.

Agree, with that 3rd pick they can go many ways, this receiver and T class is deep, they can drop down get both with their 2 picks and have a couple of 2nds to add to that, if they do this right this can be a foundational draft for a very bright future.

Good observation, I can see JuJu there, Chargers, or even Raiders.
