I didn't get a chance to watch the game I did have it DVRd ,I was at the Yankee game last night but that's another story although they are starting to remind me of each other ....anyway I think it's time that Ike stops covering the other teams best WR and just sticks to a side,he's hasn't justified being given that assignment any more.Infact he has become more of a target because of it. Forget Black and Yellow, it's more like black and jell-o. Pathetic.

I agree. The browns have a 0-4 record but they have at least showed heart when they've lost. They took Philly down to the wire and they melted down against the Ravens. I really wouldn't be surprised if we lose to the Browns at all. I feel like we will deserve it too.

Ike does have cover problems but what I didn't realize until today is how many times he gets beat in any type of slant, crossing or square route, he literally gets beat by 2 to 3 steps. The funny thing is I realized this not just from last nights game, not just from the Denver game last year, but the Superbowl where Larry Fitzgerald burned him off the line in a slant a ran for a TD (go back and watch that play). It's true we haven't had a corner since Woodson and what further complicates our D is that we don't seem to be manufacturing "Stud" linebackers like we used to.....sigh

I just read a stat that said Ike is on pace for a career high in penalties which he will "acheive" by WEEK 7!!!!!!!!! How can Tomlin allow this to continue? How can you keep playing a guy who in SEVEN games has a CAREER high?! PLEASE let someone else play!

Not only that, but when QB's start picking on you, that means you are not the best CB on the team. He might actually be the worst on the team. The guy can't keep up to WR's anymore, especially on slants. He is always immediately a step or two behind.

If Ike is covering AJ Green, we're going to be in for a long day. AJ Green will burn him for 200 yards and 2 TD's.

Absolutely. I'll tell you what Ike has a youth football camp in Louisiana. Now can you imagine what the next generation of cornerbacks is gonna look like??? Oh the humanity!! Maybe Keenan Lewis goes to that camp and learns from Ike. This really burns me up because cornerback is my favorite defensive position. I grew up loving Deion Sanders and it sucks for me to watch these slouches that we have. We NEED a ball hawk and since Rod Woodson we've not had one. Ike only has 13 ints for his career. I do think though that Carnell Lake should be sent packing too. Ike and Lewis both suck and so did Willy Gay.

I watched the highlights just now and what is glaring is that our corners have NO BALL SKILLS at all. First Lewis drops an easy INT and then Taylor whiffs at the ball allowing Kenny Britt to score. Our CB position is just sad right now.

He sucks! Plain and simple. He is not and will not be a #1 corner. I think he should be a nickleback at best. What a waste of money and a roster spot. Ike Taylor needs to hit the road. I see a lot of posts stating that Dick Lebeaus defensive plans are the problem. No they are not the problem. The personnel in the scheme is the problem. Troy's on his last leg, and we have ****e for corners. In this 3-4 zone blitz defense you have to have shut down corners and at least 1 safety that can play the entire field. Without either the gameplan just does not work. This defense is a total bust. And Ike Taylor is the biggest bust of them all.

He is not afraid to tackle, and you are right that we don't have anybody
pushing him at the CB position on the roster. But everybody wants to cut him,
why would the Steelers want to take this enormus cap hit by releasing him when they can
move him to a position where he may actually help the team.

I don't think we should be overreacting on Taylor. 8 out of 10 games you really never hear too much about him which means he is doing his job. Its just when things go bad for him, things really avalanche out of control. Our scheme certainly puts him in alot of 1 on 1 matchups. Maybe its time we shift the scheme to get him some more help.

I'll say one things though. I trust Taylor vs Britt 1 on 1 a hell of alot more than I trust Harrison vs Jared Cook.

I understand the fans frustrations towards Taylor, but lets just take a step back, and see that coaches are as equally responsible, if not more so.

Not really interested in bagging players from a team I am supposed to support but I remember when Ike first started playing.
Back on the old messsage board someone wrote on a game day thread.
Poor some water on Ike Taylor he's been gettin burnt all day.
Still is the funniest comment I have read.

taylor was suppose to be good because usually we have worst cb targeted by opposite qb , gay for example , when they target taylor is the same , remember oakland at home , denver playoffs ... , he is tall and fast , nothing else , he has one of the poorest ball skills in the league

I don't believe it is because he has a big head and forgot technique. I really think this is his age starting to show and he needs to cheat just to stay on par with the guys he is going against. I don't remember Ike ever holding that much before. Speed was never an issue for him.

If the pass rush starts coming on we can hide him and make him look better, but I think he will have to be replaced soon.

Why do we always assume that when a CB starts slowing down or their play starts diminishing we can just throw them in there at safety and rejuvenate their careers? It worked okay for Woodson but not many others have made that transition effectively. It really takes a different skill set to play safety and I don't think Ike can do it. When he's through at CB his career is over.

After Ike committed the pass interference that lost us the game, and there was an injury time out, Tomlin came out on the field, and energetically gave Ike a high five.

That's where this team has gone.

Wasn't Bill Cowher's last real interaction with Ike when he told him to go sit down?
