I think Cam Sutton is ready to be a starting NFL corner. I could see the Steelers parting ways with Haden, just so they could keep Cam.

Wrong. He got a 2 year extension Sept. 1st 2019. Translation - Joe Haden will be on the team next year. This thread is stupid.

Effectively the same thing, he has already played two seasons on that deal and he will be 32 when the 2021 season begins. They haven’t ‘just’ paid him.

The team is facing a huge cap crunch and everything will be on the table. It would be incredibly naive to think otherwise.

Vance would get hurt. Then we would have to pay an injury settlement.

Nelson is younger, and has had a solid season this year, I doubt they cut him. They might extend him to clear some salary cap space.

Haden is still playing at a very high level. He's the best corner since Rod Woodson imo.

I think his presence makes those around him better.

So yeah I'd definitely would like to keep him around for another year.

And God bless Justin Layne but the guy has not shown anything regarding being a productive starter. Sutton has gotten better but I think everyone agrees Hilton has been the man both with run and pass defense. He's a little dude that packs quite the punch. Not sure if it's possible for the $$ but it'd be cool to retain Hilton

Just to be clear, are you stating on September 1st 2019 they knew what was going to happen in 2020, which affects the cap next year?

Are you mistaken or just talking BS again? Your call.

See, I was going to but I realized that letting SDOT continue to make contradicting statements with tremendous levels of irony is oh so much better.

Possible, but he is making more then our number one cover corner and he is just not a number one corner. That is a lot of money for him.

it depends on the draft, Williamson being signed, Spillane, Hilton, Sutton, Layne showing something, we still have Ebron and Gentry and maybe a draft pick here as well. I think it will look quite different next year.

two years running with back trouble is the only concern. I'd love for us to draft Chaz Surratt from North Carolina.

My confidence in the staff's ability to mold some of these fringe players into solid starters is somewhat less than 50%. I kept making the mental mistake this season when seeing Layne out there of going to Brian Allen before remembering that Layne replaced him as the project guy. I'd also like to how Gentry has developed but he never gets a hat, Radar is the perpetual sign and cut TE and they spent 3 seasons developing CSW only to release him mostly due to covid but still didn’t get to see what he had learned. I'll be happy when Vince and his money are off the books but Jerry's O's track record for guys not as talented as Shazier and Bush is skewed.

Oh I agree fully. I'd love to swap Vince for Williamson. I think it's going to look much different next year. I always liked Radar and thought he should get a shot. With the money wise and Gentrys injury, we may see it. I think money will dictate a lot of these fringe guys getting more of a shot then maybe warranted.

It really is a meh for me, I like the talent and you really are not going to save much in replacement and the potential is there, but like you said you also get (up till now) a higher risk of injury and thus no service on the field. If you find someone in the draft fine, and even then you bring him back for camp and let him try for the 53 or PS.

If Williamson can be resigned at a decent price I agree, having him and Spillaine in rotation and Bush returning is a pretty good ILB crew, add some depth in the draft.

Potential for a big turnover in players during the off season. Out with the old, in with the new.

Nelson is scheduled to make over 8 million next year, Haden over 7 million, the difference isn't much.
