I saw DJ get benched for the rest of the first half last week after he dropped two passes. I wonder who benched him? I'm sure that Tomlin patted him on the butt and told him how much he respects him.

Tomlin is a lover not a fighter......and I want a fighter as my head coach!

Yes. It is called team chemistry and having it is important for the receivers. Having a QB who is not practing is going to be a problem getting the receicers chemistry with the starting QB.

Can they bench Ben if the ofense continues to struggle?

Where are you seeing Ben hasn't been practicing? There was only 1 week I heard he didn't practice. And if I recall he played a prty good game

Its time the rose color glasses come off. Ben is done. He got beat by a 3rd string QB on a 2-10 team. Hes dreadful and over the hill.

Rather than Ben not wanting to, I also wonder if it is because he is not good at those things. I would hope our highly paid and experienced coaches know more than us fans, and they are really going with what our players are allegedly good at. Ben may suck at play action because he can't survey the field as well that way, so they keep him in shotgun. Why make him do things he is bad at? At the moment, he is bad at most things, so I guess it is s tough call.

He was still very good the first half of the season. The wheels just fell off the last four weeks.

Ben is throwing floaters more often, don't know why. Could be footwork, him trying for better aim, something with his arm.
Could be all the above but I see less velocity on his passes the longer he is on the field.

To be fair, there have been games the last couple of seasons that Tom Brady seemed like he was done, too. That said, Roethlisberger isn't Brady. He is far more reliant on his phenomenal physical talent than Brady, who never was the most gifted guy out there.

We could just be looking at a very erratic Ben from now on. I mean he looked like a completely different QB during the comeback.

Some of that may be game planning, the stubbornness to move away from the short passing game. I have a feeling a lot of that is Bens insisting on it. We all know how much Ben looks up to Brady and he even made that comment to Switzer about why can’t they do that, I think he was trying to emulate the NE offense. Bens older, people change, he probably doesn’t want to be bombs away anymore and plus his arm could have a lot to do with why he feels that way. If he feels that way, I should say.

Short passing game won’t work by itself, even Brady attack teams downfield and mixed in a competent run game.

Hopefully, yesterday will have swayed them to attack teams that way from now on.

Ben isn’t completely washed up, this is who he has always been. Even at his physical peak, he and the offense would go thru periods where they just couldn’t/wouldn’t get it done.
He clearly isn’t as mobile/doesn’t have the escapability and doesn’t have the same big arm like he used to, but he has enough arm to get it done. He’s just inconsistent in his reads and he execution.

there is major reason to believe been was or is done after the last month. he played a near perfect 2nd half yesterday, if that didn't happen he would really be getting raked over the coals right now. Remains to be seen if the colts 2nd half was a fluke, Randy having a crap scheme, or Ben finally getting engaged again. One half of good football in one month doesn't excuse his awful play for one month

He is washed up. half 10 halves of putrid football isnt offset by one good half. barely squeaked out a win.

He is good enough this year, about as good as Cousins, Rivers, Fitzpatrick, Goff, Minshew. Still better than Baker and Burrow. Not quite as good as Lamar.
    Looking forward to the playoffs.

Not quite as good as Lamar is not right. At least I dont think so. Lamar cant really throw for ****. His go to is become another RB on his team.. He can run but thats it

Lamar runs, and contributes that way to overall team success. He is also a bit more efficient. Lamar's total contribution is slightly higher than Ben's.

Still the dude is one dimensional and teams will figure it out. I would take Ben anyday over Lamar. Lamar is going to get decleated a few times before his career will be over.

Well, when an almost 39 year old man has 3 tendons torn off the bone to the elbow, he shouldn't be expected to have the physical abilities that he had at 22. Time for some of the other millionaires to step up and make a difference.

And yet you think 10 bad halves (playing with a bum knee) offsets the first 11 games + one good half.

The Steelers were 27th in scoring last year.
This year, even with the horrible 3 games, they are 12th. (And before those 3 games, they were top 10.)
Not being at his peak is not the same as being "washed up".

I’ve been saying for a few weeks now that he has been throwing like a guy with a bad knee even though he didn’t acknowledge the knee injury until this past weekend. I’m going to go back and watch the game again to get a good look at his first half vs. second half mechanics to see what difference there was. I’m wondering if he got a painkiller at halftime, and that allowed him to drive the ball downfield more.

I loved how he held the safety to drop that ball to JuJu but it looks as if he is staring down the WRs but maybe it hurts when he throws and thats why he doesnt go through progressions like in the past.

I still cant believe what I witnessed yesterday from 1st to 2nd half. Yeah. Im a typ spoiled Steeler fan and just want BB to throw around like Rogers.

In Ben I still trust though. Will live and die with him.

Ben Roethlisberger has definitely had moments in games where he over threw his target, but if I am not mistaken, Ben has been getting the ball out of his hand the fastest compared to other quarterbacks this season, also he has 33 touchdowns to 10 interceptions. That is Ben's best touchdown to interception ratio ever in his career. To have 23 more touchdowns than interceptions is pretty impressive. We can not blame the drops that the Steelers receivers/tight ends had this season on Ben. Looking at the total season, I will say Ben has had a good year. Not great, not average, not bad.

    One and done in playoffs.
    Washed up.
12 years since last Super Bowl. Terrible playoff loses.
Nick Foles & flacco have won superbowls since and both MVP's may I add.
Big QB money wasted for what ?

Teams win Super Bowls, not players. No player wins one by himself, not even a quarterback.
